5.0 out of 5 stars Can Serena change what appears to be her destiny?
As a goddess with supernatural powers, Serena is unable to have a normal teenage life. But at least she has the comfort of her three best friends - Catty, Vanessa, and Jimena - who, like her, have powers. And there's a cute new guy at school that has his eye on her. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first book
Usually series improve over their course. Hopefully this will still hold true with the other books. However, I found this book very blah. Serena was a character I was unable to get a firm understanding of--perhaps due to her mental confusion in the book, it made her less sympathetic than a heroine should be though. And being a fan of the character Stanton, I really...

5.0 out of 5 stars Can Serena change what appears to be her destiny?, August 30, 2000
This review is from: Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2) (Hardcover)
As a goddess with supernatural powers, Serena is unable to have a normal teenage life. But at least she has the comfort of her three best friends - Catty, Vanessa, and Jimena - who, like her, have powers. And there's a cute new guy at school that has his eye on her. But everything is about to change. Jimena, who has premontions, gets a vision of Serena betraying her friends and turning to the dark side. Serena knows that she would never, ever do that, but every vision Jimena has had before has come true. And not only that, but Serena is missing memories, particuarly of a terrifying night on the beach - she knows she was almost killed, but has no memory of her escape. Serena fights against her destiny as time is running out - but is it too late for her to save herself? Read to find out! I reccomend this series to teens who like supernatural oriented shows such as Charmed and Buffy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serena Faces A Cold Fire...We Face It With Her!, December 18, 2001
By
"teenagebookworm" (Scottsdale, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2) (Hardcover)
This is the second installment of The Daughters Of The Moon series. This series is about four girls (primeraly) who are goddesses, daughters of the moon. There is Vanessa, whose power was to become invisible, Catty, who can travel through time, Serena, who can read minds, and last but not least Jimena who can see the future through preminititions.
This book is about Serena, who witnesses an ancient cermony performed by the Atrox, the evil thing sent to devour hope and to destroy the Daughters. There is a fire burning, a cold fire, in which a girl is standing, surrounded by followers of the Atrox. But she doesn't burn. Maggie, the Daughters "trainer" reveals that this ancient ritual is to make whichever of the Atrox's Followers will become immortal. But only few are chosen to become immortal...and it looks like Serena is one of them!
Then her best friend Jimena has a preminition of Serena standing in the cold fire, and gaining immortality and becoming a witch goddess, an evil Daughter-turned-evil. Will this happen? Will Serena become evil? Find out to read.
This book, with pleasing dialouge and an entertaining plot, will best be understood if read after the first one. Read this book to discover the beginning of Lynne's fantastic stories of a few very special girls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serena has always been different...., November 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2) (Hardcover)
This series is about four teenage godesses. I recomend that youread the first book in the series "godess of the night"before you read this one or it can be confusing. This story is aboutSerena, one of the four godesses, the others are Vanessa, Jimena andCatty. They all have powers - Vanessa can become invisable, Jimena haspremonitions, Serena reads minds and Catty can "tweak time."The godesses have to protect the earth and its beings from the darkpower of the Attrox the greatest evil. They all have the ability tospeak latin and ancient greek and they all wear moon amulets that weregiven to them on the days that they were born. In this story, theyare trying to defeat the followers, who have given themselves to theAttrox. Serena always has problems with boyfriends because she canread they're thoughts, but she meets Zahi, who's thoughts are all inother languages. Things seem to be going great until Jimena has apremonition that Serena is going to surrender herself to the attrox, making all the others much weaker. Serena is sure that she will neverjoin the Attrox, but then again, Jimena's premontions have never beenwrong before, and they've never been able to stop them from comingtrue....

5.0 out of 5 stars Serena goes into the cold fire, September 13, 2001
This review is from: Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2) (Hardcover)
There exists 4 L.A. girls: Vanessa, Catty, Jimena, and Serena, who all have magical powers bestowed upon them by the moon goddess, Selene. Vanesse can become invisible, Catty is a time-traveler, Jimena can predict the future with amazing accuracy, and Serena can read people's minds. They use their gifts to battle the evil Atrox, a malevolent force that has been around for a long time. This book revolves around Serena, and how one harmless night on the beach turns into a horrifying nightmare where she wakes up only remembering a cold fire. Serena knows it has something to do with the Atrox. Can Serena and her friends fight off the threat of this fire, and what does the Atrox have in store for the Daughters of the Moon?? You definately gotta find out!

5.0 out of 5 stars into the cold fire, November 29, 2000
This review is from: Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2) (Hardcover)
I LOVED THIS BOOK!! Each books lets you get to know these gifted 15 year olds. My favorite right now is Vaness, but Sernea, Catty, and Jimena are cool. THis book taught me a lot about friendship and ways to deal with situations, though I don't think I can turn invisible. I read Goddess of the Night, book one, and I loved it also. I read both in two days. I can't wail for Night Shade (book three) wiht Jimena as the narrator.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good, June 17, 2004
This review is from: Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2) (Hardcover)
This is a really good book it is about Serena (my favorite character) She has stumbled onto a ceremony where the fire is cold. Instead of hot. While she's there she see's Stanton and starts to run. He catches her but she passes out. She wakes up sometime later not knowing what happened. Also while she's at school she meets this guy named Zahi she starts falling for him. But Stanton comes and warns her that Zahi is a follower and taking away memories of her and him being together. Well I'm not going to say any more because it will ruin it for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's simply a Must-Read!!, January 28, 2002
This review is from: Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2) (Hardcover)
This book is AMAZING. Originally I hardly read anything other than the Harry Potter series, but once I picked up a book from the Daughters of the Moon series, I just couldn't put it down. In this book, Serena deals with some complicated "evil boy problems". As a goddess who knows how to read minds, she has had a hard time getting a boyfriend. When she meets Zahi, whose thoughts are all in different languages, she thought that he was the perfect guy. However, her memory is acting really strange, and she forgets the warnings given by "the boy she really loves". She is getting tempted to join the Atrox, which Jimena foresees. Will Serena choose her friends? Or not?

Imagine becoming a goddess.... picking and choosing your future in the blink of an eye, not knowing whether what you do will hurt your fate or light it.... Imagine learning that you are a daughter of the moon, fighting evil and falling in love under the starz. Meet Serena Killingsworth. She and her 3 best friends, Vanessa, Jimena, and Catty will fight to conquer the Atrox, the evil that lurks in their school, their streets, their homes. The Atrox watches their every move and slithers among them, hidden in the dark of the shadows. These 4 goddesses have the power to kill the Atrox.... or to join it. Serena is in danger. Jimena had a premonition that Serena would enter the cold fire and become a 'follower'. Jamina has never been wrong. 5.0 out of 5 stars This Book was incredibly wonderful and a page turner, February 21, 2001
This review is from: Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2) (Hardcover)
Oh wow! I can't say how much I enjoyed this book. I actually bought both volumes by mistake. It was as if they were calling to me at the store. When I saw the title of the books, I knew I HAD to have them. But I completely love fantasy books and even more when they deal with teenagers my age that are going through things I may relate to. Lynne Ewing did an awesome job with this series. I cannot wait for the next volume to be published. What is even more ironic (and yet I like) is that my name is Serena and my best Friend is Vanessa ^-^ I totally root for this book 2 thumbs way up! A true page turner and I love the character developmente and the plot's twists and turn. It kept me hungry for more.....
