4.0 out of 5 stars A New Voice In Romantic Suspense!!, May 6, 2003
There is a new voice in romantic suspense and I look forward to reading more by this new author.

In the debut novel by Gennita Low we are taken for a rollercoaster ride of suspense, intrigue, and steamy chemistry between two very impressive characters.

SEAL Steve McMillian was not prepared despite all he heard about regarding his next assignment. Marlena is not at all what he expects when he meets her outside a D.C. bar. Although she appears hard and driven Steve finds a soft side to this assassin. He finds it hard to deal with his feelings that he has for his assignment. Marlena is not just his latest assignment. She is a woman, one that has him intrigued, and one that he is drawn too. He has always been able to get in and get the job done. Now Marlena is making him feel things that he never felt before, how can he love an assassin.

Marlena is used to living on the edge and presenting a mask to the world. So she is not ready to trust, or desire Steve, her new "lacky". What is worse, Steve manages Marlena to do the one thing that she has never done, and that is to loose her focus. She finds herself feeling things that she would be better off not feeling, and wants to trust Steve but is not sure if he plays for the good guys or the bad guys.

Together they work on a secert mission, playing a lethal game of walking a tight rope between the unknown enemy and possible betrayal while falling in love.

This was a fast paced and steamy read. The characters are engaging and the plot has you turning the pages and forgetting the household chores that you should be keeping up with. A hard to put down book with great chemistry between Steven and Marlena. If you are a fan of the romantic suspense genre you will not want to miss this new voice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Ever!, September 29, 2003

This is the best book I have ever read. It had great tension between the two main characters. Usually when I finish a government romance I am disappointed with the ending. Low ended this book with awesome suspense and a lead in to the characters of (hopefully) her next book. I was extremely please with Gennita Low's Into Danger. I can't wait to read her next book.

P.S. The love scenes were hot!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever, Mysterious, Sexy!, September 8, 2003

"novel_ideas" (New York, New York) - See all my reviews
Into Danger is a book that is both fresh - and refreshing - all at once. There is nothing ordinary about this debut novel from exciting new author, Gennita Low. From the first page to the last, I found myself completely riveted to the pages, wanting to know what happened next yet afraid to finish the book too soon because I was enjoying it so much! This story has everything a good romance should, but not in a way we are used to reading it. Very strong, yet unquestionably feminine characters are a big part of the reason - and a treat to finally read! The heated tension between the two main characters, Marlena Maxwell and Steve McMillan, begins practically on page one and never diminishes as the story unfolds. Well-developed and interesting secondary characters also add depth and additional mystery to this novel - so much so that I want to read their stories next! I love the new voice this author presents to the romance genre, but would easily recommend that mystery/thriller and espionage readers give this book a try as well. In the tradition of some of the best spy-novel writers, Ms. Low craftily weaves a web of international and homeland intrigue that will keep you guessing to the very end. I rarely ever read a book twice - but I am sure to read this one again, and I am on the edge of my seat for more from this terrific new author! Bravo on a wonderful debut, Ms. Low!

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense, sensual romantic suspense, March 29, 2003
Navy Seal Steve McMillan has been assigned an undercover job with the CIA's TIARA group. His assignment, to play chauffer to the infamous assassin Marlena Maxwell and try to deduce whom her current target is. Marlena is proficient at playing mind games, but so is Steve. As she tries figure out what agency Steve really works for, and whose side of the game he is on, the fireworks explode between these compelling characters.

As the story builds, interesting secondary characters abound, each seeming to have their own agenda, playing a riveting game of cross and double cross. Gathering intelligence and eliminating the good guys from the bad are the primary focus of the plot, and the suspense never lets up. Marlena has an agenda all her own, and being the professional she is, vows to see her job to the end. But is she really what she appears to be?

Steve has his work cut out for him. He's torn between getting his job done, while falling for the sexy Marlena. These are two of the greatest leading protagonists to hit the pages in a long time. This is an intensely sensual and suspenseful tale, which left me anticipating more to come from this great author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific debut! This one sizzles!, September 5, 2003
By

...And fair warning: You'll need a sharp mind to enjoy it. If you are used to the same-ol', same-ol' (and boring turns you on)...then step away from this book! Ms. Low takes her readers for quite the wild ride into a new concept of a "black-ops-type" agency. Her style is gritty and unapologetically unique. (Very refreshing). Her love scenes require asbestos gloves for the reader (a welding helmet may help as well), and the story line is charged and exciting.

Ms. Low effortlessly tackles conflicting emotions, making the reader feel all gamuts of the character's personalities.

Well done, exciting and new. I can't wait to see what she has in store for her next novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome debut, September 3, 2003

I really enjoyed this book. It grabbed my attention, and held it, making a 3 hour plane ride much more enjoyable than usual.

The characters were well drawn and interesting. I particularly enjoyed the hero's "guyness." Suave romantic heros in tuxes are all very well but once in a while it's nice to have a white tee-shirt and beer kind of guy. Marlena was a tough, savvy, assertive heroine and I really enjoyed watching her one-up the Feds and all the other male players in the book.

The sensuality in this book is very inventive and intense. The scenes really moved the relationship along and were excellent reflections of the growing feelings between Steve and Marlena.

I have a hard time believing that this was a first novel for Gennita! I felt that it was far better than most - and, in fact, far better than some that are NOT first novels - and really look forward to her next one.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Fluttering hearts and goo-goo eyes are not on the agenda in Gennita Low's novel, Into Danger, but heart pounding, mind racing intrigue and sensuality certainly are. Stubborn, strong and sexy characters, Steve (Stash) McMillan and Marlena Maxwell, pull you into the story and a twisting, turning, tumultuous plot keeps you there. Navy Seal McMillan is given a covert assignment to find out what the infamous and sultry assassin Marlena is up to before turning her in. But as they are each woven into a web of secrets and lies, the only thing that seems certain is their intense attraction for one another. Their struggle to keep that attraction at bay so they don't compromise their respective assignments adds to the delicious tension that makes this a tantalizing and suspenseful read.

Into Danger should come with a warning label: Have your cold showers running.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Romantic Suspense, February 25, 2003
By A Customer
Steve McMillan is a Navy SEAL assigned to work with the CIA's TIARA group. His spy team is after assassin Marlena Maxwell and Steve is going undercover to play errand boy. He doesn't count on finding himself both intrigued and attracted to the "world's most glamorous assassin."

Marlena Maxwell came to Washington D.C. to do a job and she's not going to let her attraction to her newest lackey distract her. She's a professional. But despite her best intentions, she finds herself curious about Steve McMillan. He's different than all the other gofers she's had in the past. And he's much sexier.

They both have secrets to keep, but as Steve and Marlena move deeper into a shadowy world of spies and counterspies, they find attraction becoming something more. Something hotter.

INTO DANGER is one of the best books I've read in a long time! Steve McMillan is an honorable man torn between his ideas of right and wrong and his deepening feelings for a woman whose dossier says she's one of the bad guys. Marlena Maxwell has an agenda all her own and she's not talking about what it is. The verbal dueling between the hero and heroine is both humorous and sexy. The hero is as hot as they come and does he ever know how to play kissing games! I was lucky enough to get my hands on an Advanced Reading Copy of INTO DANGER and after reading this book, I have a brand new author to add to my must-buy list! Gennita Low delivers everything. Great dialogue, a complex story, a hero and heroine who sizzle when they're together, and a wonderful romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Original Kick Bum Heroine!, September 3, 2003
By A Customer
Into Danger is a wild rollercoaster ride that I didn't want to get off! A kick-bum heroine who could hold her own against the hero--what a concept in a romantic suspense. And the suspense that stays suspenseful till the end, keeping me guessing at the bad guy's identity. I finished the book with a satisfied 'ahhh!'

Marlena Maxwell is in D.C. and she isn't there to, as the hero Steve McMillan notes, 'check out the Library of Congress.' Known as the world's most glamorous assasin, it is up to Steve to figure out exactly whom she is after. But things become complicated as Steve realizes there are other parties involved and they are after Marlena.

It soon becomes a game of cat and mouse, spy-versus-spy, and mind-vs-body between these two highly entertaining characters. Gennita Low strikes a wonderful balance between romance and suspense, high drama and tongue-in-cheek wit, along with a cast of memorable secondary characters. The pearl scene is hot enough to steam the words off my pages! And the ending joke of that same scene...I hadn't laughed so hard in a long time. Had to share the joke with my husband! And he is reading the book now!

I'm so glad to see a second book coming out. Going to preorder it for sure. I highly recommend this book for romantic suspense fans who are tired of the same old, same old serial killers/rapists plots. Into Danger is about the gray world of espionage and no one is to be trusted. A truly enjoyable plot with depth and complexity, Gennita Low's debut novel, Into Danger, will keep espionage/romance fans a thrilling ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Suspense, July 12, 2005
Into Danger is definitely a sexy suspense novel. It starts out primarily as romance and then the suspense part of the story builds. Later comes the action. Followed by even more sex, which I might add is very intense.
If this is any indication of how this new author will write, I can't wait to read her other books. My only recommendation is to approach this novel of it being a romance and not a romantic suspense. It does get suspenseful, but not like you would normally find in the romantic suspense genre. I would compare this author with Cherry Adair's early novels. It has that same feel to it.
