3.0 out of 5 stars Too much going on, September 25, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Into the Dark (Paperback)
Though this book is well written as far as correctly spelled words, grammar and interesting characters and topics, there are too many plots and subplots. It would have been better to have left out some of them in order to explore a few more thoroughly. You're just getting involved in one plot, when something else is thrown in. There is enough going on with a bitchy rock musician with a dark past falling in love with a previously straight woman who embraces her new-found sexuality without so much as a second thought, without throwing in an ex-husband and his girlfriend, child who isn't even his, dead drug dealer, various addictions, and more former girlfriends of the musician than I can count. Pick something and let it evolve.
I'm not certain if this is a first effort of the writer or not. She certainly has talent and I'm sure her future efforts will improve. Just don't try to cover everything in one book. Too much confusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars I fell in love....with Jordanna., May 8, 2005
This review is from: Into the Dark (Paperback)
Into The Dark is beyond compare. Sharon Smith created two very believable characters who keep you intrested throughout the story. Also, the suspensful plot of murder and intrigue will keep you guessing who the actual villian is right up until the end. This book deals with very real life and intense addictions and emotions. As an avid reader I believe no lesbian library is complete without this exciting tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of Something, August 28, 2007
By
K. Johnson (Twin Cities, MN) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Into the Dark (Paperback)
START OF BACK COVER TEXT - Her band is called Plenty of Nothing, but Jordanna Fox has it all. The talented drummer/songwriter is living a rock star's dream: a chart-topping album, a new video, and a whirlwind tour with groupies at every stop. She's also got a reputation as a bad girl and the criminal record to prove it. The band manager gives her an ultimatum: for once, play nice with the media - or else.

Rebecca Hurley, a reporter with a popular music magazine, is sent to join the band on the final leg of its tour. Her instructions are to get close to the bad-girl drummer, and from the instant the two meet, she is surprised at how close she wants to get. But the drummer makes a point of living up to her image, which is shameless and promiscuous. That's not Rebecca's scene, even discounting the fact that Jordanna is a woman.

As the two women get to know one another, lifestyles and attitudes aren't the only challenges they face. Jordanna's nightmare past threatens to come back to haunt her and to hurt her - and anyone who gets close to her. - END OF BACK COVER TEXT

I've been taking time recently to enjoy some of my older books for a second time. What I'm realizing is that many of these wonderful stories are from one-time authors. `Into the Dark' by Sharon Smith is no exception. I believe this is her only published book and wish her talent could be shared more with readers.

Here she introduces Jordanna Fox - a blue-eyed, tall rock drummer with a reputation as a womanizer. Rebecca Hurley is a writer for a popular music magazine and is assigned to shadow Jordanna to get the "scoop." To their friends and fans chagrin, the two fall in love. Rebecca helps Jordanna understand for her sex addiction, begin to come to terms with her past, and to seek professional help.

It's fun to get acquainted with this unlikely pair. as they get acquainted with one another. It's also interesting to think about Jordanna's particular addiction - not one you hear about often. Smith takes a step outside comfortable topics to bring a truly unique story to her readers.
