4.0 out of 5 stars Incredible story that needs to be told., January 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Into Darkness: A Pilots Journey Through Headhunter Territory (Hardcover)
In April 1943 an American B-24 Liberator bomber crashed mysteriously in a remote region of New Guinea, adding to the list of bombers that had gone down in clear wather and under no hostile action. As a U.S. Army Air Force pilot and operations officer stationed at Port Moresby, New Guinea, Major Ed Imparato and six other men were asked to perform a unique mission - to determine the cause of the crashes. This is a very riviting story of how they risked their own lives facing hostile cannibal natives, rugged terrain, exhausting heat and treacherous rivers to solve this mystery thereby saving the lives of countless pilots and crewmen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing man, June 12, 2011
This review is from: Into Darkness: A Pilots Journey Through Headhunter Territory (Hardcover)
I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with colonel Imparato when i was a senior at Candor High School in Candor NY. He is an amazing man and some the words he imparted me with i have carried with me all my life. His book describes in great detail a rescue mission to save a local woman Margaret Hastings from Owego, NY. Apparently another author has taken the liberty to tell the story in their own way. I sure hope they consulted Colonel Imparato. An amazing man and an amazing book.
