I'm in love with this book. I could not put it down even for a second. I read it through the night even though my eyes were begging for mercy. The story in so engrossing and well thought out. All the characters had a unique significance in the story line. The relationship between Mia and Nick was both heartfelt and deep. Their emotional and spiritual connection grew stronger steadily throughout the book. There were some major roadblocks to overcome but that's apart of life. We all have to learn to accept the ones we love, their weaknesses and strengths. The end of the story was haunting. I can't wait for the installment in this series.

After reading Psychic Savannah: An Erotic Paranormal Romance Thriller, Into the Darkness by Amberly Evans was next on my paranormal romance suspense list. It was highly recommended and some of my friends have read it already. After finishing the book, the first thing I did was hunt for other books of the author at Amazon. Why didn't she have a sequel, for goodness sake?! Or any other book that she's written. Cause she's really very good!

In Into the Darkness, Mia was a psychic with gypsy roots while Nick was a cynical cop with Indian American roots. The first time they met, the chemistry between them as soul mates was already palpable. I love their conversation, it was so easy despite that she has money and he came from the working class. I love how, even when they were both clearly trying to hide their nature to protect themselves from judgmental people, their sincerity still managed to come through when they're together. I love how they came so easily and how the romance did not feel contrived and rushed. The suspense/paranormal theme in this book was effectively written that I have goose bumps whenever the malevolent shadow appears. She uses effective foreshadowing like the number thirteen, for example, building to an explosive climax. I love the story line, how every chapter ends in a cliffhanger, how fast-paced it is and that there was no useless space or words. All the side characters have their role in building up the story or making the main characters react and develop. The ending was sad, but it felt original and unique. Amberly Evans is an skillful and talented writer, and what's really sad is there seem to be no other book she's written that we can read!

Where are you, girl?! We need an encore!

The good:
I have read many similar stories like this . . . emotionally scarred psychic meets cynical detective and finds love. This is definitely one of the better interpretations. From the start I was drawn into the story and very much invested in the characters.

Usually the hero does not have as much emotional baggage as the heroine since it makes sense that he needs to be someone who can shoulder all her baggage and people with too much of their own are not in as much of a position to take on more. The way the story is set up, dealing with her baggage helped him work through his own so it all made sense.

The bad:
I believe the whole demon plot line disappointed me the most. The details were not very fleshed out as to the whowhatwhenwherehowwhy of all the supernatural elements of the story. Sort of along the line of good world building, we needed more explanation and structure for this.

Also, there were quite a few spelling/grammar mistakes that happened often enough to start to annoy me. The story would be a thousand times better if an editor reviewed the book and an updated version was released.

I love this book. I didn't want to put it down and read way late into the night. Such an amazing book; I loved the characters and the suspence of the storyline. I was almost too scared to turn the lights out after reading at night. I lent it to my daughter and she loves it just as much as I do. I have it on good authority that the author of this book has others she is waiting to publish. Please Please Amazon, publish more of them. I will buy them all.

Amazing book. I couldnt put it down. I cannot wait to read more from her. She is a great author and the characters were wonderful. I was sad when it ended and more sad when I saw that she doesnt have any more books published yet. A great read will keep you wanting the book to never end.

This book was good entertainment. The only bad I saw in it was that the main character was a little to much of a neurotic mess. It made her look weak. I would've enjoyed it better if she were portrayed as a stronger female.

...I sadly won't be reading any further into the series. The book had me, up to 1/2 way through. But I read to the end. Maybe if there had been better editing, and the final 130 pages or thereabouts had been saved for the next round, I'd feel differently. I completely lost any sympathy or connection to the male lead character & all went sideways after that. Maybe this book is meant for a MUCH younger crowd - too much naivete & inexplicable social inept reactions to the characters & environs.
