Similar to FAT FREDDYS DROP, THE BLACK SEEDS are already superstars in their home country of New Zealand. The eight piece band, who have been active for nearly 10 years, have gold and double platinum status at home. Finally with the release of their third album Into The Dojo in summer 2006, it's now time to introduce THE BLACK SEEDS, through Best Seven and Sonar Kollektiv, to people here as well.

On a trip to New Zealand I was introduced to the Black Seeds and fell in love with this album. I bought it there and have never looked back. The price was the same and it puts a smile on my face almost every day. Honestly, it is so good I feel like I am addicted to it. Other NZ artists to try are KORA, and Fat Freddy's Drop. You will not be disappointed in any.

How do you mix funk with reggae? I don't have an answer to that but these guys do! Holy S***. I'm a big fan of 70's old school funk, as well as a fan of Marley and the new wave of roots reggae thats out there right now, so this mashing of the two styles is a huge wake up call for me that theres still music being put out today thats every bit as good as the classics. I dont even know how I stumbled upon this, but damn its good! Highly recommended for funk and reggae fans. Simply love it!

If you are into Dub or Reggae genres, I would recommend this as a very chill but well written album. A lot of fun. I am a big fan. Good for driving.
