5.0 out of 5 stars This is more like it!
This book was the best of the all the books in the series. The real VC Andrews "style" showed all through the book, making the pages turn quicker and quicker. I hope they stop doing mini series, becasue it really isn't like VC Andrews would have done it. I hope they go back to large novels for books in a series, instead of a mini series. But for now, I am...

1.0 out of 5 stars Let's bury THIS in the garden...
This was quite possibly one of the WORST books I have ever read. It was illogical, poorly written, and laughable. First of all, no one can go out, bury their mother in the backyard, and expect no one to know about it. And isn't it oh-so-convenient that Geraldine had no friends and thus, no one knows about her death? I mean, come on. And wouldn't the neighbors notice a...

4.0 out of 5 stars Best V.C. Andrews novel in a long time, March 22, 2000
This review is from: Into the Garden (Wildflowers) (Mass Market Paperback)
Into the garden is really good, in fact one of the best V.C. Andrews novels in a long time. I didn't like the rest of the wildflower series, but this book made up for it. I was also glad because of the variety of characters in this book, there is a black girl and a not so thin girl. All of V.C. Andrews characters are usually the same size six white girls, but this book had some variety. What I didn't like about this book is Jade and her hollier-than thou I'm rich and you're not attitude. Overall the book is good, and the ending is dramatic, sweet, and in a way sad. I recommend this book if you are a true VC Andrews fan. I know a lot of people have stop reading VC Andrews novels because of the drab miniseries runaways and wildflowers, but this book is V.C. Andrews true style. I heard the next series Rain is back to VC Andrews true style too

And wouldn't the neighbors notice a freshly dug GRAVE, for Pete's sake?! And then everyone goes and has sex in the house. Is there something I'm missing here, that EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER HAS TO HAVE SEX IN THESE BOOKS?! And the whole scene with Cat's ankle made me laugh because it was so poorly done. The ghostwriter is milking a cash cow that's long since dried up. Heck, that cow is DEAD. Let it rest with Andrews, ghostwriter. Your clichèd characters, sappy plots, mangled metaphors, idiotic names - I mean, come on. Ice? Cinnamon, Rain?, and continued use of incest, rape, sex in general. It's never completely, utterly asinine, redundant, and bland.

4.0 out of 5 stars Into the Garden, March 3, 2000

This review is from: Into the Garden (Wildflowers) (Mass Market Paperback)
I recently read the book, "Into the Garden" (pub. 1999) by V.C. Andrews. The book was about a group of four friends who call themselves "the orphans with parents" or OWP's for short. In the beginning, the main character's (Cat) mother dies. After she dies, the four girls take over her house and turn it into their headquarters. This book reminds me a lot of another book by V.C. Andrews called "Runaways" (pub. 1997) which was also about four friends. One difference is that in "Runaways" the girls were really orphans, and in "Into the Garden" the girls had parents, and called themselves orphans. The main character, Cat, is very interesting. She is kind of paranoid about everything the girls do. The rest of the girls try to get her to loosen up. They pretty much redo the whole house that they have taken over for their "headquarters". Then they all take turns staying the night there with Cat, where they plot some pretty decitful things. This story was a very good story about some mischevious young girls, and it was very interesting and held my attention all the way through. The only thing I didn't like about it, was that it was so similar to Runaways.

1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE!, January 3, 2000
This review is from: Into the Garden (Wildflowers) (Mass Market Paperback)
I think only about 3 chapters in the book were worth reading. The story started out ok, but then it was just page after page of irrelevant nonsense! There was too much going on--half the book could've been edited out without losing the story. I was never able to get a hold of where this book was going. I could see how the writer ATTEMPTED to have readers feel sympathy for the characters...but it just didn't happen.

The storyline was ridiculous & towards the last few chapters, I found myself RUSHING through the sentences just to get the book over with!

FINALLY, when the ending came, it confirmed my thoughts that this book was a waste of my time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rip Off!, April 20, 2002
Another rip off from the Andrews Family. This is not like V.C Andrews at all! The characters are too shallow and the plodding writing takes you nowhere. The story is too... soap opera-like and predictable.
Really dumb!
I really loved and enjoyed reading V.C Andrews but things are getting out of hand... don't you think?
Skip this.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Guilty Pleasure, May 16, 2000
This review is from: Into the Garden (Wildflowers) (Mass Market Paperback)
OK, I admit it -- I've been reading V.C. Andrews books since I was 13, and I always do have to read "the new one." Like many other readers, I was disappointed in the Orphans miniseries. It felt as if someone had figured out that teenage girls are drawn to her books, and decided to make them "tamer" because of it.

The Wildflowers series started off the same way, but slowly built to being more like the books I remember being glued to in the library after school, the books I read in order to reflect, "Well, my life might suck, but at least nothing like THIS has happened to me."

Into the Garden is that kind of book. The strange coincidences, twisted family relationships, and buried secrets coming unveiled for the not-quite-adult protagonist are classic V.C. Andrews, and about time. Why does the ghostwriter think we READ these things, anyway? :) Jade's strange form of New Age magic makes a nice addition to the classic formula.

3.0 out of 5 stars What's happened?, December 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Into the Garden (Wildflowers) (Mass Market Paperback)
I believe the last series that was true to Andrews' spirit was Dawn. With Ruby it started going downhill, Melody was trash, and now these miniseries! How odd that the Wildflowers books were matched to children's books and juvenile literature on amazon.com. I want the real novels back! Hopefully the next book....

5.0 out of 5 stars a very good book, July 27, 2000

I am a V.C. Andrews fan and I think that the Wildflower series was disapointing, but this book made it all seem better. At some point the book was so vivid that I actually had to look away because it felt like I had broken my leg. The book had such a sweet ending and so much happens, but you have to watch out because there is a lot of text and you can easily get lost. It would be ok to just skip the wildflower series and go right to this one. Its a great book and I recomend it to all readers. Especially if you want a can't-put-it-down book. I also recomend the Logan family series. (contact me at: rgdjrxxx@aol.com)

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, June 22, 2000
This review is from: Into the Garden (Wildflowers) (Mass Market Paperback)
Into the Garden has done justice to this series and VC Andrews. I read the whole series and every page of every book was great. Misty, Jade, Star and Cat were about 4 teen girls that are in therapy and each book is each one telling their story. Each book brings them closer. the final book Into the Garden brings them all together outside of their therapy. Where they learn to become friends. They form a club called the OWP's. They all have a surpise packed in this book but the biggest one of all is one of them looses a parent and ask the others for help. What do they do? Who do they turn to? The ending has a suprising twist. you will have to read this book. I feel if you read the whole series you will have a greater satisfaction with this book.
