5.0 out of 5 stars Great start, July 2, 2005
This review is from: Into the Grave (+ Bonus) (Audio CD)
barely into their Haday and the almighty Grave are able to deliver powerful pure Death Metal in an assault of 11 great tracks full of what any death metal fan frantically looks for in an act like this. Grave's approach into their brand of DM is very solid and never lets down in any of the songs in this album which to me is considered a gem especially if it includes the 7 other demo tracks on the re-issue. This is one of only a few bands that has a great tone in their instruments which include the low buzzsaw ultra-crunch guitar accompanied with the signature low grunt raspy vocals. Many of the tracks here are extremely memorable and of course they all have great riffs and the thing that completes this masterpiece is the blasting kit that tears through flesh and bone. But, don't take my word for it check it out if you're fan of old school DM

I also agree with the other reviewers saying that this is an unforgettable death metal classic.I was totally blown away when I first heard this and still am.All the songs are well structured and heavy as hell. The songs are midtempo and are not that fast, but they rely on sheer force to dull your senses. In my belief,I think this is an overlooked classic which deserves alot more praise than what it's getting here.Go out and get this today because I promise you will not be disappointed.DEATH METAL LIVES ON!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Classic Deathmetal album, February 11, 2005
By
This review is from: Into the Grave (+ Bonus) (Audio CD)
I bought this album in 1992 (cassette), and i love it till now.
Death metal should sounds like this album, though it is quite like Entombed (not the newer ones, but the old one).
and hey..even Jorgen (ex Grave vocalist) is now in Entombed
but You won't regret it.
If you want to hear an easy but heavy deathmetal music not ultra fast, try this one.
BUY IT BEFORE IT IS OUT OF STOCK!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Arghhh! Pulverizzzing Heavy As Hell Death, January 31, 2003

I picked up a copy of this at a record store in northampton after listening to track samples online. Wow! I was speechless upon listening to this Cd. I don't think I've ever heard a band this so dam HEAVY in my life. Its European slow to mid tempo speed death which is cool especially the slow chugging guitar riffs like in the song "Into The Grave". Incredible death vox on this cd as well, very low at times along with some high death screams. This cd just pounds away at your skull and leaves you battered and bruised. Everytime I listen to it I just want to punch thru glass! If your into death metal and looking for some real sick heavy music look no further!

5.0 out of 5 stars So damn heavy, July 26, 1999

If you think youve heard heavy music you havent until youve heard grave. This cd is a dump truck unloading 10,000 pounds of boulders on top of you.Even though the band is swedish they are not like in flames, hypocrisy, edge of sanity, They are more like a Cannibal corpse/Dismember hybrid. Youre not a death metal fan unless you own this

5.0 out of 5 stars To enjoy this you've got to *really* like Death Metal..., November 11, 2005
This review is from: Into the Grave (+ Bonus) (Audio CD)
The heaviest, purest and most brutal death metal ever recorded. Look elsewhere if you want subtlety, melody, clever musicianship or variation of pace. This is just relentless Neanderthal thuggery; pummelling, crushing, monotonous. From the simplistic punk drumming (no blasting here), the density of the guitar tone, to the indescribably guttural vocals - everything here is utterly base-level. This is death metal born from geographical isolation, and enveloped in the atmosphere of Old-School Swedish darkness. Needless to say, it absolutely kills.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Greatest Death Metal Albums Ever!, October 18, 2002
This review is from: Into the Grave (+ Bonus) (Audio CD)
This is one very good album. I was very happy to have bought this one, considering it is one of the best death metal albums I ever heard. American death metal bands can be real good, but sometimes I think that Europe, especially Sweden, does it a little better. This band is so true to how metal should sound. The only thing about this album I don't care for is the fact that they repeat some of the same songs twice (even if they are two different recordings of the same song). Of course, that doesn't even make it bad at all. Every song on this album is great, but my favortie songs on this one are "Haunted" and "In Love". Trust me, if you like metal you won't be dissapointed with this one.

early in thier career maybe one of thier best not powerfull heavy brutal music but extremely greatdeath m etal like the early day simply good music with some intricate twists and great riffs.the start of a great death meath era grave lost some of the greatness they had here nowadays but gained other things sheer power of the riff and skills gained threw time 15 year plus of writting death metal you learn how to create better song but with these songs there was youth speed and aggression and pure hatred stuff you have when your 18 that you lose when your 40 but very experienced in your field of music still.this is some of the best early sweedish death metal you'll find(unleashed, entombed, dismembered&at the gates)

5.0 out of 5 stars gRINDING dEATH mETAL, September 16, 2007
This review is from: Into the Grave (+ Bonus) (Audio CD)
If you like Entombed...you will like Grave! Grave is like a heavier Entombed (not that Entombed isn't heavy). But if you are looking for a cd that sounds similar to Left Hand Path only with the bass turned up full volume to a grinding brutal molestation of any sane human being then get this. I mean it, this album rocks. It's one of the heaviest death metal albums of all time. Just a pure classic with extremely distorted guitars and an overall chunky sound that can only be compared to their next album after this one (You'll Never See...), which is another must have. But this is a notch heavier I think. Their Soulless album is different than Into The Grave and You'll Never See... but I like them all equally for their individual qualities.
