essential Madonna dance classic, August 17, 2004
This review is from: Into the Groove / Dress You Up (Audio CD)
If you want to hear the original single version of "Into The Groove", here it is! noticeably different from Immaculate Collection's Q-Sound Remix (4:09). While opinions comparing the two versions vary, I'd say having them both in your Madonna collection wouldn't hurt, after all it's one of her essential dance classics! It's housed in recycled cardboard slipcase with a hole in the middle resembling vinyl record and does not come with a picture sleeve (typical of Backtrax series cd singles). 1. Into The Groove (Single Version) 4:42 2. Dress You Up (Album Version) 4:01

Classic Madonna Song, December 4, 2002
This review is from: Into the Groove / Dress You Up (Audio CD)
Simply one of the best songs from the decade we know as the 1980's, Madonna's "Into the Groove" first played on airwaves in the summer of 1985 when she made her big Hollywood screen debut in the cult classic "Desperately Seeking Susan." The song, which was played twice in the film (scene at club where Madonna meets Gary Glass and the end credits) became one of that decades best anthems. Now for the first time many Madonna fans in the USA can listen to the original version, which is not available on any of her albums ("You Can Dance" has a terrible remixed version and "The Immaculate Collection" has a short, radio edit version. Nostalgic to an extent, "Into the Groove" still remains a classic Madonna song.

This is a rare and delightful treat!, June 22, 2000
This review is from: Into the Groove / Dress You Up (Audio CD)
It is rather sad that this entry in the "BackTrax" series has now been deleted, because this single was rather rare and in contrast to its purpose as a re-issue of Madonna's singles. "Into the Groove" was never released commercially as a single in the US, so to hear the Single Version of "Into the Groove" is rather refreshing, considering we never knew of a single version. The Album Version of "Dress You Up" is also satisfying because this is one of Madonna's most overlooked gems. She may prefer the brooding intensity of "Frozen," but there's also a place for fantastic fluff in pop music, isn't there? If you are fortunate to find this single, consider yourself very lucky. I do.
