More About the Author

Gail Faulkner (forever 38) was born in a frustrated reader's mind. She adores men who know what they want and intend to get it. She has little time for silly women who do stupid things just to make the hero save her.

One thing she is sure of is, Erotic is the new Sexy and that is excellent news. Slipping on a little black dress is fun, having it ripped off, even better. Okay, maybe we can get him to just take it off but that might be tricky.

Most of all, she loves sharing her daydreams with anyone who will read them.

I got "Into his keeping" having only read the 5 star reviews on amazon.com.
I thought it was gonna be a great book about a BDSM relationship, and
under this angle, it didn 't disappoint.

Great character development right from the start of the book. I thought I had
read it all when it came to books of this genre, but Faulkner delivered one
surprise after another. Holdin 's longing for Jill is so vividly described,
I could just feel it right there with him. And Jill is so tragically depicted
having gone through so much in her life, that I could just not stay impassive.
The hotter than hell sex scenes are -of course- a given.

***WARNING, SPOILERS***

The bonus in the whole story between the two of them, is of course the offspring.
Faulkner didn 't stick to the traditional recipe of unfolding a BDSM relationship
and giving the reader the chance to view it from the inside. She brought Holdin
and Jill 's son to the mix, as a product of their lovemaking that came completely
unexpected. This way, she gave a more realistic view to such a relationship.
Now, that, was an accomplishment.
Writing down from 3 different angles how each of the characters experienced each
situation and how Jill and Holdin adapted to the presence of their son while still
trying to figure out the dynamics of their relationship, was a work of art.
You just have to read it.

BUT. 2 things in this book made me really uneasy (and they were not the sex scenes).

I would reccommend this book to anyone who loves love at first sight and a hero that is completely dedicated to the heroine. I want a Holdin Powell for myself. It's about 2 teenagers who fall in love but due to circumstances they are seperated for 15 years when they are reunited the heroine finds out everything the hero did to get in contact with her (there is a good reason but I don't want to spoil it) including winning the superbowl and making a fortune and building a dream house for her. He is an Alpha male and the sex scenes are HOT. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough. I hope she writes some more about the hero and heroines past. This is my favorite book and I highly reccomend reading it.

At least!!! A genuinely erotic romance novel written with enough feeling and appeal for male romance erotica novels to be fully worthy of a 5 star rating wholly without reservations!!! Obviously I could have asked for, and easily wanted even more of the "good stuff" as some reviewers call it...and yeah, I was a bit disappointed I had to get nearly a third of the way into the book before it truly started heatin' up and gettin' at all more than PG-13 "spicy" reading...BUT OMG, IT'S ALL SO WELL WRITTEN!!!

I won't go on and on rehashing what others have written syopsising the story, I'll say instead that this was the first book of its type that just plain flat drew me into it from the first page to the very last!!! Ms Faukner's writting style truely "drew me in" with characters that were vividly clearly described, and their emotions and feelings so well expressed and believably true-to-life, along with a plot-line and back-story so easily imagined in today's world...I really couldn't hardly stop reading, or want to put it down even briefly! It is a romance read that truely deserves to be called "tear jerkingly" romantic...and erotica that genuinely becomes "sizzling red hot" when the two lovers finally become intimately engaging! The few sex-scenes are from a man's point of view EXCEPTIONALLY WELL WRITTEN and intimately descriptive, yet not what-so-ever in a way the could be considered to be blatantly lurid nor dirty and raunchy! They are very clearly LOVEMAKING scenes between two people genuinely in love with one another...nothing more, and nothing less!!! Unlike all too many books in this particular "adult" genre', there are no lesbian, nor menage' relationships...and yes I at least found that HIGHLY refreshing. And the BDSM aspect was almost surprizingly, nearly non-existant...

Something was very wrong with this story. It started out as a flashback to a high school relationship between Jill and Holdin and then brought us to present day. Apparently, Holden always knew he was a Dominant but Jill never totally accepted that she was a submissive. She was afraid if she did accept it, he might not accept her totally but that was her own insecurity issues. Holdin brings her to this acceptance later on in this story.

Here is where the book made no sense. The story lets the reader know that Jill and her father were in trouble from these "bad" guys because Jill witnessed a murder. The car crashed. Her father died but she woke up pregnant with no memory. Then the story goes on to tell us that Jill's life is in danger from these "bad guys" but we never find out any resolve on what happens to them. We find out that one was killed and the other one is standing trial but her life could still be in danger and so could anyone connected to her.

After 15 years Jill shows up in Holdin's life again with their son, Drifter. Jill "supposedly" forgot Holdin after a car accident. Then suddenly, after another accident with glass in her skull, she has total recall. Huh???? Holdin is always trying to protect her but the author over does it with the "into his keeping" in way too many sentences. Yeah, we get it already.

The story didn't flow at times. I also agree with another reviewer. Why would Holdin use Jill's ass before her vagina is beyond me? They were so crazy about each other, it didn't make sense. He kept saying her first time vaginally would hurt but he didn't feel that way about taking her anally. Makes no sense.
