4.0 out of 5 stars Honest Writings, August 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Into the Moon: Heart, Mind, Body, Soul : The Native Women's Writing Circle (Paperback)
This book is a collection of writings resulting from a Native women's writer's workshop. Evidently, it was an intensive two-day event that resulted in a wealth of material. Anyone who wants to understand the human spirit--the Native spirit--better will be rewarded by reading this. I enjoyed Into the Moon most for the honesty of the writers. The last section "Stories to Tell" is particularly powerful with stories of a critical time in the life of each writer. Also, I was intrigued by the poems that begin with "She watched the hawk gliding overhead. . ." and end with ". . . and she walked up the road." What a great way to encourage writers, publishing their workshop pieces!

5.0 out of 5 stars Artistic Review, March 14, 2001

This review is from: Into the Moon: Heart, Mind, Body, Soul : The Native Women's Writing Circle (Paperback)
In re-examining the painting I have interestingly discovered an even more intense connection with the figures and the content. The cover art was done with a scence of connectedness with the spirit, emotional inner child we so want to meet. Into the Moon was a compelling book I had the priveledge to do artwork for, and being a trauma victim, I have encountered many healing journey's. I can see that these figures depicting these wounded soldiers, who struggle hard for their identity, they work hard on into the moon, for closure and healing, the child is the inner child reaching to connect with the woman. This picture eminates more drastically the constant connectedness needed for a much more fuller and richer life, and the life of that inner child speaks, we need only listen. To these women I am grateful this book is only the begginning of the long healing I as a woman must make.
