Editorial Reviews

Product Description

'This album takes us back to self-produced record shines with Bad Brains' true sense of freedom
and musical experimentation, with blends of soulful backgrounds meshed with blistering hardcore and metal riffs, with classic dub,' says Darryl Jenifer of Bad Brains.

Considered to be the 'holy grail' of punk rock, Bad Brains are one of the definitive American punk groups who garner the same respect as Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Ramones and The
Clash. It's a return to form for the band that helped define American Punk and Hardcore music.

This is another great album by a great band that has been making great music for decades.

All the songs are great and this one has all the balls & energy you want from these Bad Brains.

This cd has a heavy powerful sound, and I really do believe they are just as good as ever.

Say what you want...we will never again have another Rock for Light, I Against I or anything like it from the Brains. IT WAS OVER 30 Years ago!

The band is older now and so are the true fans. Face it. But on the good side...we have a legendary band still going strong. For anyone who begrudges them or HR any odd proclivity, remember, this band has always been a bit off and HR led the way. It made them what they are and allowed them to make the music they made. I for one am grateful to still see them creating.

The tunes on this release are classic Bad Brains...and I do not mean for people to go compare these to the old tunes. What I mean is that this is a Brains release and you only need to hear about 3 seconds of a tune to know who the band is.That is classic. That is standing out above the rest. NO other hardcore band can say deliver that. Nor can any stand up to the Brains.

Thank you guys. Thank you for continuing your creative endeavors and for allowing me to keep on sailin on!

Nick

Mr. Pessimistic sums up the album well over all. If you are expecting Banned in DC, skip this record. If you are looking for something that would naturally come after Rise or Build a Nation, this is exactly what you get.

The band proves they can still play fast and write some great hardcore rifs, but (and this is where I'm sure I will draw ire from the die hard fans) HR's vocals seem somewhat uninspired. While the band is playing at 1980's speed, HR doesn't seem to keep up. Content to sing rather than rage. But hey, these guys are probably around 50 years old now...it's unrealistic to expect HR to still go at it like he was 20 I guess.

As I said, overall a solid Bad Brains album. Mix of reggae and hardcore. This is unmistakably a Bad Brains album.

Take I against I and Quickness mash it together and you have the most important release of their existence. And boy do they deliver!
The collective unit is a force of joy and praise! Give thanks and respect to all those who have brought forth the musical teachings.

Enjoy!

Bad Brains are back, and if you will excuse my blasphemy, as good as ever. Love the new album which is very much in the same vein as the original albums which made us all start loving the Bad Brains in the first place! Highly recommended!

If you already like the Bad Brains and have followed them through their low points to their incredibly high highs then you are probably used to taking what you can get from them these days. There really is a greatness about this band and their music although these days most of that greatness seems retained by Darryl, Earl and Dr. Know more so than by the ever-iconic/iconoclastic HR. This release has fantastic production and performances by the band and I will listen to it more than once, which is more than I can say for that last cd. When I listen to this one I can still feel some of their super talents flowing through the grooves...

Into the Future is a must have for Bad Brains fans. This cd has a heavy powerful sound, and I really do believe they are just as good as ever. Hard to pick a favorite song, but this rocks! A little less raw production than Build a Nation, but this is a worthwhile purchase for metalheads and punks alike.

It's no I Against I, but it jams!
Just like God Of Love, it took more than 3 spins to sink in, which is good in my opinion; my interest tends to fade in music if I like it right away.

...sounds like HR showed up for this one...
Well, I think we all hope that it wont be "as good" as God of Love. God of Love was the worst thing they ever did.
