Into Thy Word: A Simple, Easy to Learn 'How Too' Guide to Better Understand the Bible and What God Has to Say to Us

I bought this book because I wanted a precept study approach to the Bible. While written at a low level - easy to understand by students - the first part contains much guidance about the importance of being born again in order to understand spiritual truth as well as the importance of application - not mere understanding.

However, in part 2 - the study leader's guide - the author recommends mystic Bible study methods such as contemplative exercises including the "Jesus Prayer", "Lectio Divina", and the "Ignatian Awareness Examen". He goes on to encourage the use of myriad similar exercises to heighten "spiritual experiences". While these methods are popular, they are unbiblical and will lead many astray - leaning on such mystic experience basis rather than on the revealed Word of the living God.

Roman Catholics and Emergents will cry foul, but their demonstrated love for such mystic ways simply validates the caution for anyone who claims the biblical Christ. Mystic approaches to truth ALWAYS lead away from Truth, into false and dangerous alternative spiritual "truths".

I found the bible to hard to understand. It just did not make sense to me. A friend recommended this book, "Into Thy Word". I read it reluctantly, because I did not think I could learn anything new. But I have to say I was very wrong! This book is fantastic. Now I can read the bible and clearly understand it, even my devotions and prayer time is much better. This book is short and simple and to the point, nothing weird at all. It even has a great 'cheat sheet' that I love, and keep in my bible. GET THIS BOOK!!!

I struggled with trying to understand the bible for years, Into Thy Word helped me. Now I understand and apply the Inductive Bible Study method. Now I can teach in my church and I never thought I would ever be able to teach anything. There is so much wonderful insights in this book, from developing a devotional time, insightful devotions, a bible reading chart that I follow every day and of course how to get more out of the bible. My Sunday School in church are memorized with this program, as we are going though James and getting so much more out of it! This is a must buy for any Christian who is serious with the faith and wants to grow more in Christ!!!!! I give it 10 stars but only 5 are available!

I loved Into Thy Word! It is very thought out and has a lot of good insights, which are about the Christian live as well as studying the bible. I used the teacher's lessons for my devotions for a time, I wish there was more! I highly recommend this book!

I am enjoying this book. I even got the Parallel Bible and I am learning how to read the Bible and know what every phrase is saying.

THIS BOOK SHOW HOW TO NOT JUST READ GOD WORD BUT HOW TO APLY IT TO YOUR WALK WITH LORD.
IT FOR NEW CHRISTIAN OR ANY ONE WHO WANT A CLOSER WALK WITH THE LORD AS AN ELDER OF THE OUR CHURCH IT OPEN MY EYE TO A CLOSER WALK.
