About the Artist
Woodland is a musical ensemble that has formed in the pines of Prescott, Arizona over the last three years. The group features the poetic music of Kelly and Emilio Miller-Lopez, set to the creative and ornate musicianship of John Peckham, Lily Swan, and Angela Woods.

Kelly Miller-Lopez is a lead vocalist, harpist, drummer, and major creative element of Woodland. Kelly's songwriting is featured on two new tracks from Woodland's album 'Into the Twilght'. Kelly has a background in Shakespearean theatre, and was a featured solo vocalist in productions of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. Kelly brings a powerful female personality and a creative theatrical spirit to Woodland.

Emilio Miller-Lopez is the guitarist and a primary songwriter for Woodland. Over the years, his unique bardic songwriting and rythmic improvistaional guitar playing has been featured at various major music festivals throughout the west coast. Emilio has been writing songs and poetry for over 15 years, and has developed an original style of songwriting that weaves together a strong background in mythology and traditional music.

John Peckham has brought a fresh new sense of rhythm to Woodland with his original fretless bass playing. In addition to expressing his creativitiy through the bass, John has participated in production and engineering on Woodland's new album, and he helps direct the sound at Woodland events. John is a sound 'Wizard', and his many talents are contributing to new possibilities of sound exploration at Woodland shows and on Woodland albums..

Lily Swan contributes to Woodland's sound in many ways. Lily was raised in Arizona, and started playing music at age 6. She plays a number of instruments including harp, piane, and flute, all of which she plays within Woodland. She also writes her own songs based on her love for the earth, and has released two recordings.

Angela Woods is the newest addition to Woodland, and brings to the group rich authentic fiddle tones. Angela was also raised in a musical family, and has a strong musical background. Angela's fiddle is featured throughout 'Into the Twilight', and has given Woodland a deeper tone that inspires feelings of old Europe.

Together these artists form Woodland, an Arizona based musical ensemble featuring original bardic songwriting set to ancient melodies. The music is an ornate tapestry with roots woven deeply into mythological wisdom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Through the mist on the waters of dreaming..., January 5, 2002
By "foxglovefaerie" (Between Realms) - See all my reviews
I came across a recommendation for this Woodland CD while exploring the Brian and Wendy Froud website and decided I should check it out. It arrived in the mail today and I have to say that it is absolutely enchanting! The CD artwork is by Brian Froud and it includes all of the song lyrics which include a W.B. Yeats poem (Into the Twilight). This could be considered a soundtrack for the Froud's artwork or a soundtrack for Faerie itself. The lyrics are filled with faerie mythology and folklore and the longings of nature. It put me in the same peaceful mood I get while listening to Enya. I recommend it to those who are enchanted by faerie, those who are fans of Brian and Wendy Froud, those who enjoy the Celtic poetry of Yeats, and fans of music like Enya and Loreena McKennitt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mystical, Majikal, Enchanting, July 28, 2003
By Sharon Reddy (Phoenix, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
At the FAERIEWOLRDS Festival in Sedona last May 2003, I looked up at the stage to see a delight for the senses! Gauzy fabric, twinkling, undelating colored lighting, larger than life Pan-type beings swaying. Then, Woodland came on the stage. When their music began, I knew I was a witness to something very, very special. Majikal. They were wonderful! Beautiful melodies, haunting drum rhythms backing lovely vocals with mystical lyrics. I bought this CD that evening and have listened to it regularly. My daughter has one as well and listens to it constantly. My 7 year old grandson trys to play his little guitar to the music. I'll never forget when I went into his room and he was sitting on his bed strumming his guitar with his face up to the ceiling, eyes closed, singing "I Remember". This past June while camping, my husband put it on our portable CD player in the middle of the forest in the mountains of AZ. We lay back on the blanket and let the music take us to the Enchanted Realms under a full moon. We love this CD/rom. Sorry to see that at this time it is not available, because it is so very special....
