5.0 out of 5 stars A stunning and beautiful book July 3, 2011
By Alan Sz
Format:Hardcover
I found this book when I was browsing with my kids at the library. It is a stunning and beautiful book. Visually, it is amazing with hundreds of full color illustrations and detailed drawings, some of them presented as sections that fold out or pop up. Substantively, it is fascinating, telling amazing true life stories of exploration. When I looked for the book on Amazon I expected that it would cost something like $50. I was pleasantly surprised at the affordable price, and ordered ten copies to keep on hand for use as birthday presents as the like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Into the Unknown August 5, 2011

I pre-ordered this and was duely surprised by the intriguing way that the writer and illustrator presents the topic. It has surpassed all my expectations and the book gives a well-balanced choice of explorers all through the ages. It is both informative and educational. The excellent artwork compliments the story-telling quite seamlessly. At its pricing, it is certainly a bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read for my little history buff December 17, 2012
Format:Hardcover
My 8 year-old son received this book last year from his Grandma. He had read the "Magic Treehouse" books and became extremely interested in history. "Into the Unknown" is an amazing book, especially now that I realize how inexpensive it is. The fold-out diagrams and maps are fascinating and the writing is a good level for upper elementary school or middle school readers. But it doesn't skimp on the information, which is what I love about it! I have read some of the stories with my son and learned so much! An excellent book for your explorer of any age!
