4.0 out of 5 stars Halo 16 or not, who cares?
For all you die hard NIN fans out there like me, let's clear a few things up right now: 1) This single is NOT Halo 16, "Things Falling Apart" is. 2) This IS an official Nine Inch Nails release. 3) It IS worth getting. This album does suffer from a few drawbacks, first and foremost is the fact that everyone is screaming "It's not an official release!"...

2.0 out of 5 stars Halo ?
This item is in a cardboard sleeve which does not feature any HALO numbers.

The tracks may all be found on the various releases of "We're In This Together" - but at least they chose some of the better ones :)

For all you die hard NIN fans out there like me, let's clear a few things up right now: 1) This single is NOT Halo 16, "Things Falling Apart" is. 2) This IS an official Nine Inch Nails release. 3) It IS worth getting. This album does suffer from a few drawbacks, first and foremost is the fact that everyone is screaming "It's not an official release!" Well, I tell ya what, Halo mark or not, it's official. It also suffers from the fact that it's got no new tracks on it.

Track 1 and 2, Into the Void and We're In This Together, are the first two singles from "The Fragile", and are the LP versions. It also contains "The Perfect Drug" and "The New Flesh", which can be found on the yellow and green WITT singles, respectively (I've long since given up trying to figure out which is #1, #2 or #3). So you're saying, "Wow, the Perfect Drug, that's on The Lost Highway Soundtrack, the Perfect Drug Versions, one of the WITT singles AND this?" Well, unlike the Lost Highway soundtrack and the Perfect Drug versions, this is the EXTENDED version, which goes for about 5-10 seconds longer than the orignal, and sounds SO much better because it doesn't end abruptly. However, the exended version of TPD is ALSO on the yellow WITT single; if the extended mix was ONLY on this CD, I would make this a _MUST HAVE_ CD. "The New Flesh", however, is merely the same as the WITT single version.

Why am I recommending this? Although it's a bit pricey, it's a much more accessible single than the WITT singles for new NIN fans, I think. Brand new NIN fans aren't going to want to get all three WITT singles right off the bat, since they retail for the same price as this single, AND this CD has very recognizable singles, including the EXTENDED TPD version (you can tell I REALLY like it). On the downside, there's not one new track on the CD, but I think the tracklisting itself more than makes up for this.

5.0 out of 5 stars my favorite songs from "The Fragile", April 10, 2000
By
This review is from: Into the Void / We're in This Together (Audio CD)
This CD has two of my favorite songs from "The Fragile" - Into the Void and We're In This Together. It also has two B sides - The Perfect Drug (from The Lost Highway soundtrack) and The New Flesh (also on We're In This Together #1). Into the Void is one of my favorite NIN songs. Check this one out - especially if you dont own the Lost Highway Soundtrack.

5.0 out of 5 stars The joys of good music and wonderful accidents, October 27, 2004

This CD is definitely my favorite among the NIN singles in my collection (yeah, okay, so all the tracks are available elsewhere, but its the combination of the songs on this one that just WORKS).

However, its always been a mystery to me. That is, until I ran into its product page a few minutes ago.

I'm not really sure when or where the hell I picked up this CD (considering the fact that I've never been to Australia), but it was incredibly cheap at the time, and I figured that since it came in a plain-ish cardboard sleeve and had no Halo number, it was just some unofficial random thingamajig.

Damn, talk about miraculous accidents. good stuff. a must-buy if you can get your hands on it.

Who needs this? Into the Void and We're in This Together are on The Fragile; and The Perfect Drug and The New Flesh on the far better We're in This Together singles. Now this isn't even a good collector's item, because unlike the other Halos it doesn't even have a neat design (even paper sleeve!). Not even I as a hardcore NIN collector will include this one in my collection. By far the worst NIN CD that ever came out. Still three stars because of the five-star song quality, but otherwise completely unnecessary.

Into the Void is defintely halo 16, i did some searching and found out that it was, and being the fact that it is yes,, this is a must for any NIN fan out there! Nut only bad part about it is is the fact that if you have The Fragile and Lost Highway soundtracks you have all the songs..but...for any hardcore NIN fan it is a must!

5.0 out of 5 stars GEEZUZ!!!!, June 8, 2010
This review is from: Into the Void / We're in This Together (Audio CD)
LOOK AT THAT PRICE! LUCKEY I BOUGHT THIS YEARS AGO. FOR 25 BUCKS! HA! OK A LOT ARE COMPLAINING CUZ THIS IS DOES NOT HAVE A HALO NUMBER, BUT THIS IS PRETTY COOL CD TO HAVE. YOU GET INTO THE VOID, AND WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER (they can be found on the fragile or halo 14) THE PERFECT DRUG (from the lost highway soundtrack, this version is slighty longer) AND THE NEW FLESH (witch can be found on the we're in this together halo 15, i forget witch part this is from) ANYWAYS BY THIS AND YOU WON'T BE SORRY. ARTWORK: 3/10. SONG: 10/10. COVER: 2/10.

This cd marks a milestone in nine inch nails history.. Never have they put out a cd not officially marked, etc. Considering the fact that all other singles(imported) and Japanese released albums offer a slightly different cover, an extra track, or simply different packaging, I would have to say that this is a one of a kind single for any nine inch nails fan. I purchased this cd at RecordTown for $14..of course this was back in 98 or 99 maybe. It has become ridiculous for people to price this cd so high for its "rarity" therefore, only pay as much if it is worth it to you. I will not drop the 40 dollars they want for THTF single and it is the only cd I don't own by nine inch nails. I am not losing sleep over not having it.. my 30some other nin cd's keep me company quite well. check out ebay and forgo the $224 you find here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Collected Thoughts, September 19, 2005
This review is from: Into the Void / We're in This Together (Audio CD)
I have mixed feelings about seeing this sell for 45-125 dollars everywhere. That's pretty messed up because it's just a single, but at the same time it's rare and it makes me even more proud of having paid 12.99 for it at a random FYE that had it last year, for no apparent reason.

As for how it sounds, it's a very good mix. Into The Void leads into We're In This Together, then The Perfect Drug (the version everyone makes a big deal of because it's a whopping 7 seconds longer than the one on the soundtrack) and finally The New Flesh, which was left off of the CD version of The Fragile. everythng here is available on other releases. Though it should be noted that The New Flesh is becoming scarce because many people don't buy vinyl, and quite reasonably, aren't ready to shell out 60 dollars for the blue WITT cd when it was in stores five years ago for $13.95.

It's one of my favourites in my collection, but mostly because it was a really lucky random find. At this point if you aren't a collector, don't buy it, because it's way too expensive now and there's some poor completionist out there right behind you hoping to get their hands on it.

And for the sake of repeating what everyone else is drilling into your heads, this is totally un-haloed, but is still an official single. It's in the line up, you heard it all over the radio, it sold in regular retail in it's day, and it's nothing records approved, blah blah blah, it's official. The Fragile era section of my collection would feel empty without it.

EDIT: hey they brought the price down to what I paid for it. That's prett hot, except they don't have it in stock. Oh well.
