A Soundtrack That Will Take You On A Magical Journey, September 12, 2011
This review is from: Into the West (Audio CD)
Set in the picturesque and magical backdrop of the Irish countryside, "Into the West" follows the lives and misadventures of two young brothers who form a strong bond with a mystical horse who takes them on a journey to rediscover their lost roots as travelers. The film also explores the highs and lows of life and how sometimes when things are at their worst all it takes is the strength of love and courage to finally bring someone you care about back from the brink of personal destruction. I used to watch this movie all the time when I was a kid and I have to say that the score and the closing themes fit the context of the film beautifully. My personal favorite was the song "Eyes of a Child" by Garden of Joy. I've tried looking for it to download but when I was browsing on Amazon, I was shocked to find that the soundtrack was still available and on sale.
Being a big fan of the movie especially after watching it several times in the past, I knew the background music by heart and after listening to the soundtrack, I have to say that I was surprised to hear some songs on there that weren't easily picked up in the movie such as, "Fare Thee Well Love", "Someone to Talk to" and "Mama's Arms" just to name a few. As for the rest of the soundtrack, most of the film's Gaelic score is included, which combines a rich mix of soothing mystical rhythm and fast paced music such as the chase sequences of the finale. All kidding aside, it's easy to get lost in some of these songs. My favorites on the soundtrack include, Garden of Joy's "Eyes of a Child", "In a Lifetime" by Clannad and "Someone to Talk to" by The Devlins. This is the perfect soundtrack to get your mind off things and to let your imagination take you on a journey to another place that's just like Heaven. For those who have seen this wonderful movie, the soundtrack is a must buy for the fans who love a great collection of songs that will take you on a journey to the magical lands of Ireland.
