Michael Brook's score for the film "Into The Wild" fits the story so well and is amazing to listen to.

Each track in this score lets you relive the film and the parts of Christopher McCandless' story. The music is mesmerizing and is filled with so much emotion.

Unlike some scores, each track from Into The Wild is unique but they are still thematically related. Brook captures the emotion of the story and his music also fits in with the songs by Eddie Vedder on the first soundtrack. If you enjoyed those songs this score is a must have.

AMAZING!

This music by Michael Brook captures the essence of what soundtracks should be-- unique tunes created specifically for a film which help tell the story and convey the emotion of a given scene or character. John Williams was able to do this, but then the industry seemed to go thru a phase when everything was given the generic, one-size-fits-all treatment by Danny Elfman-- there were so many films which became lost opportunities to create something unique and outstanding in the music world b/c of this. The soundtrack for Into the Wild is a kindred spirit to Neil Young's work in the Johnny Depp movie, "Dead Man" and Richard Thompson's work on "Grizzly Man" -- somewhat sparse with an undercurrent of rambunctious folk intermingled with reverent pensiveness. "Best Unsaid," "Swimming & Horses" and "Carte Noir" deserve special notice. Michael Brook would have been at home on the old Windham Hill label- too bad it disappeared.

I loved Eddie Vedder's "Into the Wild" album, which is the easier to find one, but always wanted a little bit more of the music. This is very minimalistic, very contemplative, and a great addition.

credible. My first experience with Michael Brook's music is his score for Affliction. I remember sitting in that theater listening more than watching. He was the PERFECT choice to score Sean Penn's vision for the journey of Chris McCandless. I've read the book a few times, watched the movie many times. Brook's soundtrack is another character, a setting, a landscape, an emotion, a theme, THE mood...it is absolutely essential, as all great scores are. If you love the movie, you already know what I'm talking about. Vedder's soundtrack is excellent, but this score is the world McCandless inhabits.
