Book Description

September 2, 2008 8 and up

Sasha has everything she wants: kind housefolk who take care of her during the day and the freedom to explore the woods beyond Twolegplace at night. But when Sasha is forced to leave her home, she must forge a solitary new life in the forest. Life on her own is exciting at first but quickly gets lonely. When Sasha meets Tigerstar, leader of ShadowClan, she wonders whether she would be better off joining the ranks of his forest Clan. But Tigerstar has many secrets, and Sasha must decide whether she can trust him.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read September 14, 2008
By AMB
Format:Paperback
When we met Sasha in the books, she seemed like a proud, fiery cat who was happy to be independent. So here in this book we get a glimpse into her past and her meetings with Tigerstar. The art style takes a bit getting used to, but it's realistic and pretty cool. Sasha is portrayed as being much more meek and shy than when we first met her, and sort of wants to join Clan life, even though in the books it was said that she wasn't comfortable around so many cats. Nevertheless, I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting September 5, 2008
Format:Paperback
This was a fairly good book, revealing much about Sasha's origins and Tigerstar's time in ShadowClan. Sasha is much more meek than how she is portrayed in the TNP series, and her feelings for Tigerstar and her reasonings for wanting to be with him are explained. The story is told from her vantage point, up to the end where we are left waiting for the next book. It is admittedly overshadowed by the great Eclipse, (properly named) which has brought back Warriors fans everywhere, but the art is good, and I am left anticipating the next book, which promises even more. The book is slightly overpriced for one of it's size, and the fact that it is not an actual novel, but I do recommend that you read this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, excellent for Warriors fans or cat lovers. July 13, 2009
Format:Paperback
There's not too much I can say about this manga series. If you're a fan of Erin Hunter's Warriors, then you will like them. If you're just looking for a manga to read, maybe so, maybe not.
My only real issue with these is how fast my daughter reads them! She is 11 and will read one of these in less than 30 minutes. She does reread them, so that's good. I'm not sure whether it matters to anyone, but the art is in black and white.
Overall a decent product if slightly pricey for what you get once shipping is added. I'd recommend picking up one of the used copies offered by one of Amazon's partners. New=$6.99 Used=about $3.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Tigerstar and Sasha Review February 9, 2009
Format:Paperback
From all of the other Warrior books, the point of view was always from a Clan cat. In the regular serise, we barely ever heard about Sasha. When I read from her point of view, my entire look at her was so different. I also never thought that Tigerstar could actually love anything other than blood and power. I liked the different change of view and it was unexpected.

3.0 out of 5 stars Christmas Gift for my Daughter January 14, 2009
By Tess
Format:Paperback
This was a Christmas gift for my 10 year old daughter. She wanted to start a new series to read...Mystery or scary - absolutely no mushy or drama...She said the book was okay, it was a quick read, she was done with the book in a few days, but is interested in moving on to the next book. I would recommend this to a young girl who isn't into the preteen drama books. MY daughter said there was more mystery and not too scary.

Warriors Tigerstar & Sasha #1: Into the Woods is the first in a series of black-and-white graphic novels expanding the story behind the Warriors saga of feral cat clans who master survival in the wild. Tigerstar & Sasha: Into the Woods delves into the past of Sasha, a cat caught between two mutually exclusive worlds - that of the "kittypets" cared for by humans, and that of the proud and independent wild cats. When Sasha's beloved master grows too old to care for her, he must move away to a retirement home. Other humans are willing and able to look after her, but she isn't ready for a new master; instead, she leaves the human world to spend some time on her own. Sasha crosses paths with Tigerstar, leader of the ShadowClan, and gradually gets to know him and other clan members. Together, Sasha and Tigerstar can survive even a battle against a wild fox. Tigerstar extends a tempting invitation for her to join ShadowClan - it would mean added security and an end to her loneliness - yet ShadowClan has a dark, hidden secret in its plans to perpetrate ruthless vengeance on all outside cats! Volume one ends on a tense cliffhanger, leaving the reader in anxious anticipation for more. Suitable for readers age ten to one hundred and ten, Warriors Tigerstar & Sasha #1: Into the Woods is especially recommended for cat lovers everywhere.

3.0 out of 5 stars Warriors fans will love it, but... March 26, 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
My daughter is a huge fan of the Warriors series, and loves all their books. Mom was a quite surprised (and a little upset) that this really a comic book masquerading as a traditional paperback book. My daughter loves drawing the Warrior cats, and now spends hours redrawing the cats in the style of the comic book, so on that level it wasn't a waste of money, but as she finished "reading" the book in under 20 minutes, I am extremely happy I bought a used copy rather than a new, full price one (she's now bugging me for the rest of the books in this series but honestly I am somewhat reluctant to buy it for her, because I buy the books to improve her reading skills -- she's a good reader, but in this day of video everything, kids need all the exposure to traditional print books they can get). I should have looked "in" the first pages of the book before buying and will be doing so in the future with all the Warriors series, but the book description should make it very obvious that this is an illustrated or "comic" book rather than a traditional print book.
