"Into Your Head" deserves to go into your CD player!,
By Kelsey (Baltimore, MD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Into Your Head (Audio CD)
Well it's been over a year since BBMak's debut release "Sooner or Later" and anticipation for a sophomore release has been building. As soon as I gave "Into Your Head" a listen I found that BBMak has pumped up the guitars, drums, and given it more of a rock sound. They have brought that live sound that they aquired after a year of touring right into the studio and really hit the bulls eye on this album. Some highlights of the album are:"Out of My Heart (Into Your Head)" - Their first single off the new album captures the radio listeners with a strong chorus and awesome sound. "Staring Into Space" - This song really delivers the live rock sound and pumps up the guitars. "Sympathy" - In my opinion the best track off the album. Think "Ghost of You and Me" off "Sooner or Later", only better. Fully written by Mark Barry, Christian Burns and Ste McNally. Some other favorites off the album - "She's Everything", "After All is Said and Done" and "The Beginning". "Into Your Head" really deserves a spot in your CD player, so place your order right now off Amazon.com!!

An excellent follow-up to their SoL album (which I loved!). It's more guitar-driven (yay!) with the fantastic harmonies still intact, great vocals. The enhanced cd is cool (pics, audio from the guys about each song, "OoMY" video).Nice mixture of up-tempo songs (Out of My Heart/Staring into Space) and ballads (Sympathy/Run Away). The songs are about love, relationships, heartbreak. Listened to the entire cd numerous times already and don't have any songs that I'd skip. BBMak (co-)wrote all ten songs, producing several. Wish there were more than ten songs though. Recently saw BBMak again at a local radio concert on Aug. 19, they were great as usual! Since this cd wasn't releasesd then, wasn't familiar w/ the new songs when the guys performed them, but it was still a blast! 1. Out of My Heart - great summer single as was Back Here

Simply Amazing!,
By A BBMak Fan (Joliet, Illinois USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Into Your Head (Audio CD)
BBMak's new album, Out of My Heart is a great CD! Every single song (10 in total) is brilliant. The group co-wrote each song, and also produced one of them. Sooner Ro Later was an amazing CD in its own right, but OOMH is a more mature sounding BBMak. They play instruments beautifully and each song gets your toes tapping and singing along. This is one of those CD's that you can play from start to finish without skipping a song. The song list includes:1) Out Of My Heart- the guitar playing is amazing in this song and it's a very catchy song. 2) Staring Into Space- According to People magazine, this song has a kind of Beatle's sound to it. I don't think so, although it also another great song. Very upbeat and great to listen to. 3) Get You Through The Night- I absolutely love this song. The guy's voices sound so good and the song just gets you in a great mood. 4) After All Is Said And Done- This is another wonderful song. Each guy sings a part, and the part that gives me chills is where Ste sings "Our love is dead." A must hear! 5) Out of Reach- Again, the guitar playing is very good and the song is very good. 6) She's Everything- Beautiful song! A little slower paced, but again, the guys voices sound awesome! 7)Run Away- Another slower song. The guy's harmonies sound so gorgeous! I love it! 8)Sympathy- A beautiful love song that gives me chills. I love hearing these guys sing. 9) I Still Believe- This is a great song, especially so close to the anniversary of September 11th. It gives you a really good feeling. 10) The Beginning- Ashame that this is the last song on the CD. A wonderful song that gives you chills as soon as they start singing. Very sad but amazing to listen to. If you haven't listened to the music that BBMak has to offer, you really need to. They have amazing voices and are great with their instruments. They're not like the regular boy band at all. They deserve more recognition for their amazing music! Also, this is an enhanced CD with the out of my heart video and other great features...a must buy!

BBMak has gone rock!,

I honestly wasn't even a fan of BBMak until I bought this CD. I mean, I wasn't really impressed with some of their old poppy songs, like "Back Here" and "Still On Your Side". When I first heard "Out Of My Heart" on the radio, I was thinking who is this band? When I heard it was BBMak, I was just so shocked! I went out and bought this album and it's one of my absolute favorites. I would consider it more rock than pop, which is great! They definitely have improved themselves. I'm proud to give this album 5 stars!

BBMak ROCKS On Sophomore Album...,
By "makker541" (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Into Your Head (Audio CD)
As a fan of BBMak's 2000 release, "Sooner or Later," I hoped they would continue to set themselved apart from the "boy band" genre and captialize on their considerable musical talents. Enter, "Into Your Head." Having seen BBMak live, this is what I had come to expect from the band. The powerful drums and guitars meld with smooth three-part harmony to make this a flavor you won't get anywhere else. Burns, Barry, and McNally co-wrote and play on all 10 tracks--not one of which could be classified as "filler." If one listens carefully they can pick up on several references to BBMak's Liverpool predecessors, the Beatles. Highlights include the catchy first single, "Out of My Heart," "Staring Into Space"--a fast paced song which brings to mind the golden era of rock, and "The Beginning"--a mature, intellectual take on the rock ballad. If you haven't already, I highly reccommend checking out this album.

rock on!,

well, i have to admit that i was a little worried for bbmak when i found out it was going to be a 2 year gap between their albums. i was totally afraid that everyone would forget about them! i'm so glad i was wrong. this album is definitely worth the wait. the guys have taken that live rock sound right into this record. seriously. i saw them perform this album before it actually came out, and live or not, you get the same rock feeling from all the songs. i especially love the very retro, "beatle-esque" track "staring into space". it totally takes you back to that happy, carefree time. my other favorites would have to be "run away" and "the beginning". both are just really beautiful raw ballads. the first time i heard "run away" i honestly almost cried. that's how sweet it is. alright, so i guess you're going to have to trust me on this. "into your head" really is a big step forward for bbmak. if you liked them before, you are going to love them now. i promise. so go out, support these talented boys, and rock on!

BBMak straps on their guitars for a strong round 2,
By Buddhaful (MI) - See all my reviews

Let's all admit, the pop world is getting really shallow. Shelf life of music is about as bad as milk. So BBMak's second CD is more than welcome as a breath of fresh air. Vocally, they match the likes of Savage Garden and instrumentally match wits with Lifehouse. The 2nd installment is more rock and blues, but not a total departure of what made they great in the first place. The power ballad like "Ghost Of You And Me" (Their best song to date) is a empty hole in the CD. But songs like "Out Of My Heart", "Get Through The Night", and "The Beginning" patch up any holes. Here's a review of the songs:1. Out Of My Heart - A perfect way to start off the CD. You can even picture yourself on the beach hearing this song. On the top of their game. 10/10 2. Staring Into Space - Sounds like an older 60's funky rock song. Vocals aren't up to their quality. 7.5/10 3. Get You Through The Night - Personally, I love drums. But the real power on the song belongs to the guitar and bass. I could see this being a single. 9/10 4. After All Is Said And Done - It feels like I've heard this before, but still holds on its own merit. 7/10 5. Out Of Reach - Starts off slow but picks up as it goes along. Good but skippable. 7.5 6. She's Everything - Good song alone but then they add this unique before the chorus to add extra flavor. 8.5/10 7. Run Away - A mild, down-tempo song. I would have liked to see it focus more on vocals than the guitars. 7/10 8. Sympathy - While it's supposed to be sad overall, it begins sad and turns into a "holding strong" song. 7/10 9. I Still Believe - Carries the "Sympathy" vibe but vocally much better. Lyrics are written beautifully. 8/10 10. The Beginning - Finishes strong, the way all CDs should (But sadly most don't). Maybe a little deep for single material but I think it should be one. 9/10 BBMak are more talented than most bands out there, which is comforting. Most bands are untalented flukes. The CD is very consistent, a key factor in CDs. You know what it's like to have 2 or 3 good songs surround by ditties that don't even deserve a cheap commercial backing. If you liked Lifehouse's NO NAME FACE or Michelle Branch's THE SPIRIT ROOM than BBMak will fit perfectly in your CD player. All 3 have a blues vibe on their rock and pop songs. Overall I'd give it a 8.05, which deserves a 5 star. So get the CD, put on your headphones, and let it get into your head.

They've Done It Again!,
By Catherine (Northern New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Into Your Head (Audio CD)
I can't say I've been a fan of BBMak's for a significant time, because I only got their debut CD just weeks ago. But after hearing the first album, I couldn't wait for their second one. I'm sure the wait for other people (up to two years, I think?) was definitely worthwhile. Very, very, very nice. In my opinion, I think it sounds a lot different to the first album. So I don't think I would guarantee anyone they would like this if they loved the first one, but I love both and it looks like a lot of others do too. They definitely have more guitar on this, more rock and a little country in some songs, as oppposed to their debut CD which was much more pop. All the tracks are very catchy, I was singing along by the second chorus for all the songs! Definitely a lot of Beatles influence on this one. (The Bee Gees on the other one, I think) Looks like they've worked on their accents too. (hehe) Here's a complete review of all the tracks:1. Out Of My Heart : Good song to start the album with. Very Catchy. Great 1st single. Love the guitars! 2. Staring Into Space : My favorite song! The Beatles! That's all I have to say. 3. Get You Through The Night : Also very catchy. A fun song, The Beatles influence there again. 4. After All Is Said And Done : I love the intro! Rock/Pop/Hint of country. 5. Out Of Reach : The guitars are great here. The chorus is a little repetitive, but it sounds okay. 6. She's Everything : Love the intro, great guitar break. I really love those guitars, eh? Good song. 7. Run Away : A very sweet song. Christian's voice gives me goose bumps it's so good! 8. Sympathy : One of my favorites! Soft rock. And of course, I love the instrumental bridge in this song! Great song. 9. I Still Believe : This song reminds me of Train's song, "Drops of Jupiter" Especially the chorus. That kind of "sounds like talking but actually singing" style. 10. The Beginning : A nice end to the great album. Overall, it's an awesome album, highly recommended for any pop/rock fans. BBMak have done it once again.

Amazing CD, I wish they hadn't broken up,
By Willow (Michigan) - See all my reviews

I started listening to BBMak after seeing them perform live on some TV show, and went out and bought INTO YOUR HEAD the next day (after hearing only "Out of My Heart (Into Your Head)"). I still listen to it all the time, and I wish they were still around to make more CDs like INTO YOUR HEAD.
Highlights of INTO YOUR HEAD are: *Out of My Heart (Into Your Head) - This is a catchy, fun, summery song with fun lyrics. This is the song that made me want to buy the CD. It isn't the best on the disk, but it's right up there. *After All is Said and Done - From the opening, you know this is going to be a more serious song, and it is. It's about royally messing up a relationship (some of the lyrics are: "Thought that you were workin' late, but that was when I made my first mistake, when you walked into the hall and found the clothes upon the floor it was too late..."). It gets trashed a lot for being more serious, but I love it. *Out of Reach - Out of Reach is the "typical" unrequited love song, except this stands out from other songs with the same topic. It's simple, but it's great. *Run Away - My favorite song on INTO YOUR HEAD. It's sweet, with beautiful lyrics, vocals, and an awesome guitar part. All 10 tracks on INTO YOUR HEAD are great, and I think its a shame that BBMak didn't get that much recognition. They weren't your typical "boy band," and I recommend the CD to fans of Ryan Cabrera and Jump5. Overall grade - A+

BBMac's More Rock Side,
By
This review is from: Into Your Head (Audio CD)
"Into Your Head" is the follow-up album from "Sooner Or Later" by BBMac. Unfortunately, this is the most shamefully overlooked album of 2002 in sales and the Grammys. Admittingly, their previous album didn't sound like they meant their words; rather, they were written by someone else. Therefore, the sound became somewhat sour within time. However, "Into Your Head" feels more real. They seem more into the music than before. Listeners can easily notice the high evolution as musicians. They prove that they've grown out of the "boy band" generation, though they never really were one.The songs are wonderfully written, produced, and arranged by BBMac. This album explores the more rock side versus before by turning up the volume of the guitars, which they also play. Every track is equally as catchy as the one before and after it, starting with their hit single "Out of My Heart". Their performances are wonderful in every way. The amazing harmonies within the trio give these songs added listening enjoyment. Such quality keeps their sound fresh today. "Into Your Head" is a great quality rock album that will surely please audiences for a long time. They prove with every song that they will continue releasing great music for a while. If they continue their musical evolution with their next album as they already have, it'll be exciting to hear how it sounds. |
