About the Author
Kate Legere studied pastry arts at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. She runs a small cupcake business from her temporary home in Brussels. Her passion for baking led her to experiment with new ingredients—such as liquor—to create brilliant recipes! She lives in Lancaster, PA.

As soon as I received the book, I had to try one of the cupcakes. They all look amazing from the pictures. I made the Champagne Party cupcakes for an adult birthday party and they were a huge hit. I am a stay at home mom (not a chef) so I can honestly say that the instructions were easy to follow and not a laundry list of ingredients. This book is definitely worth getting..you will not be disappointed. The cupcakes were such a hit, I am trying a second recipe for another party!

I received this book as a present from a friend at work, and on a whim I decided to try the pina colada cupcake recipe for a tex-mex themed potluck. They were so good that my roommates and I polished them off before even making it to the party - I had to double the recipe and make them again! And they were just as yummy the second time.
I'm not a huge fan of cookbooks but this one is definitely a keeper. Easy to follow recipes (which is great because I barely know how to turn on the oven), great tips, and best of all the finished product turns out great every time!

I have a good number of cookbooks--more than I usually assume I have, and certainly more than I use frequently. While I purchase each cookbook with a certain aspiration of (eating great food, learning a new cuisine) this is one of just a few cook books I have that I turn to over and over. Part of that is because the cupcakes are simply very inventive without being over complex or too fussy. There are cupcakes in here that are consistent hits when I've made them--Bright and Cheery Orange is one of my favorites.
Aside from that, the photos of the cupcakes are terrific--and show off food not only as edible, delectable, but as visual form. If you're in any doubt, go straight to The Car Bomb cupcakes--recipe and photo--pure sculpture, all great cupcake.
