5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the big picture
I've read lots of detail books about web publishing (ASP, JavaScript, DHTML, etc.), but could never quite work out how to fit all the bits together until I read this. I'm not really a beginner, and this _is_ a beginner's book, but I still recommend it highly for anyone (beginner or not) who's looking for a good overview of the various technologies.

2.0 out of 5 stars Microsoft Fluff
I would have to say that the author is strongly biased in favor of microsoft products. I think his overemphasis on using templates to create forms that can only be used by MS Internet Explorer was a major disappointment...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent beginners book, October 29, 1999

Being a new user of SQL 7.0 and ASP, I needed clear, concise information as to how to write htm & ASP code to save information through a web form and to set up a customer form editing capability. This book gave me the sample code and clear discussion to develop those forms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great beginner book!, July 22, 1998

I recently purchased your book, "Intranet & Web Databases For Dummies", and I found it to be a great help! Your coding of Active Server Pages was much easier to understand than the script Microsoft's wizards created! I was able to start with a blank page and write all of the script to connect to the database and supply the information I was requesting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for ASP/Access programming, August 6, 2003
By A Customer
I purchased this book when it was first released. At that time, I knew what ASP and IIS was, and how to use ASP and VBScript to do stupid things like manipulate dates and write to the browser window. ASP is only interesting when there's a database involved. This book got my feet wet with making ADO connections to an Access backend to build REAL applications with ASP. Recommended for the total ASP/database beginner.

This book is good if you are using MS Access if not you are out of luck. Something on the cover or somewhere in the above description should have stated that this book is ACCESS focused. If I would have know this I would have purchased a different book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok book to start with., May 4, 1999

This is not a great book but it will explain the basics. It's easy to understand even for me who's not that good in english. So if you new to ASP and databases this is good book to start with.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for beginners, July 22, 1998

The first few chapters of the book explain the web publishing wizards, while the rest of the book explains how your database works with web pages. The scripts within are easy to understand and much more simple than ANY other I have read!
