5.0 out of 5 stars Matt Helm thought he was on vacation., May 14, 1998
By A Customer
Mac -- Matt Helm's Boss -- loans Matt a boat so he can take a fishing vacation in Mexico. But during his vacation, Matt is shot at and has to return to action. This fast-paced story gets very complicated as Mac's daughter places Matt in peril with her radical ideas. But no job is too big for Matt Helm. Another great book by the master of mystery, Donald Hamilton.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best in the Series, January 23, 2006
This is #14 in the Helm series, and it's a stand-out. It reminded me of Rex Stout's "The Doorbell Rang," one of the best Nero Wolfe stories, in which the FBI are the *bad guys*. Helm is stuck in one of his nastiest cases as he's targeted for assassination by-- well, read and find out. This atypical entry is Hamilton at his paranoid best, and for long-time fans of the series, you'll learn a lot more about Mac than you thought you ever would. Best to have a solid grounding in the Matt Helm books before picking this one up, but it's a goodie.
