About the Actor

Bert Casey has been a professional performer and teacher in the Atlanta area for over 30 years. Bert plays several instruments (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, and flute) and has written eight instructional books (Acoustic Guitar Primer, Acoustic Guitar Book 2, Electric Guitar Primer, Bass Guitar Primer, Mandolin Primer, Ukulele Primer, Flatpicking Guitar Songs, and Bluegrass Fakebook) and has made six DVDs (Introduction to Acoustic Guitar, Acoustic Guitar DVD Part 2, Introduction to Electric Guitar, Introduction to Bass Guitar, Introduction to Mandolin, and Ukulele Primer DVD). Product Description

Introduction to Acoustic Guitar DVD by Bert Casey covers the material in the Acoustic Guitar Primer Book. It is aimed at the beginning acoustic guitar student and contains all the information needed to learn how to play guitar. It covers all the basics (proper hand positions, tuning, scales, and rhythm using chords & strumming, bass notes, and bass note runs). It utilizes many closeups to show proper hand position and technique. Our unique split screens show both hands in detail and utilizes onscreen tablature for all of the music, with a bouncing ball type pointer showing each note as it is being played. Bert Casey's DVD starts off with simple things (as previous reviewer noted, three chords). However, it goes way beyond that by the end. The lessons build slowly and progressively in order to avoid beginner frustration/burnout. If you are diligent and practice every night for 15 to 30 minutes, you will be playing quite well within six months -- hey, there is no "miracle method" to get you playing acoustic guitar in three weeks. It takes work, but Bert Casey's method eventually pays off.

Note: This DVD focuses on bluegrass and flatpicking styles of guitar. Also note: There is a companion book that you should check out if you are serious about learning how to play guitar.

Hi. I got this dvd for Christmas with my Ibanez acoustic guitar. He introduces the guitar in very easy steps and tries to teach the correct way to play before bad habits can be learned. I was not bored with this dvd and am looking forward to getting better (with a lot more practice).
