Absolutely wonderful!! thanks . . ., March 18, 2003
This review is from: Introduce Your Child to Hebrew: Bilingual Baby Language Video, Vol. 12 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Ok, I disagree with the lukewarm reviews this video has recieved. If your child is old enough to read hebrew pass this one on but if you have toddler who is being introduced to the language . . oh boy this one is perfect!! I have a number of hebrew videos (mostly from Israel) and while I am sure my son will learn from them when he gets older, so far they are flops in teaching him anything. The bilingual baby video is like a mini language immersion (try baby ulpan) and my son has already picked up all the colors, numbers and most of the words. He doesn not confuse them with the english at all and I highly reccommend this to everyone. I haven't found any other video like this out there. To summarize what its all about . . .A word is called out (e.g the color adom) and then a number of items that can be described by the word are shown in tangent with the word being said (shots of red apples, shirts, red hats, etc). After using a few diffent words in this manner the video then uses a brief sentence. Very simple. Boring as dirt for someone who knows the language but absolutely fascinating and very effective for a toddler. My only request . . .Bilingual baby 2.... an advanced version.

A Reply from The Producers of This Video, February 28, 2002
This review is from: Introduce Your Child to Hebrew: Bilingual Baby Language Video, Vol. 12 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
We at Small Fry Productions would like to reply to the viewer from Malvern, PA. The Bilingual Baby Language Series has 4 languages that do not use Latin letters in their written form - Hebrew, Greek, Russian, and Japanese. Since this series was created specifically to introduce pre-reading children to the auditory sounds and syntax of these languages (voiced by native speakers) rather than teaching how to read these languages, Small Fry Productions purposely used the phonetic spellings of words in these languages. This was done in order to help the adult viewers learn along with the child, without having to know a new written language. The packaging on these 4 Bilingual Baby videos clearly states that "words on this video appear phonetically" and also states "this video uses the phonetic spellings of the language, rather than traditional text, in order to best assist viewers with pronounciation." Future videos in this series will be aimed at older viewers (age 5+), and will include age-appropriate spelling and reading concepts. We hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding about this award-winning series of videos. We invite any customer to write to us at: cservice@small-fry.com, if you have any other questions or comments!

Hebrew for babies, November 5, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Introduce Your Child to Hebrew: Bilingual Baby Language Video, Vol. 12 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a nice video - similar to the Baby Einstein series of videos for babies. However, there is one HUGE flaw - Latin letters! They have Hebrew letters on the box and in the picture but on the screen, each Hebrew word they show is in Latin letters. I was VERY disappointed as we are raising our daughter bilingually and thought this would be a great introduction to hearing and seeing Hebrew.
