From the Author
We firmly believe that your time is the best gift you can give children. It's like making a deposit into their memory banks.
Since great things have come from people who have been able to imagine, think and create the impossible, it's never too early to begin working on developing these attributes in your children. We'd like to think our stories can help.
Because children need problems to solve, not answers to remember, we've included several discussion points in each story - the perfect way to begin a dialog and keep the lines of communication open, while developing their problem-solving abilities.
Reading to your children is a great way to combine learning and play. You really are your child's favorite toy. So cozy up in bed, fire up your Kindle, and get started. And be sure to visit our companion web site - checkythebear.com. There, your children can visit with Checky and see and learn all about his friends and everyone he meets in his stories.
About the Author
Maurie is a long-time teddy bear collector, decorating their home in "Early Teddy Bear" to the delight of their grandchildren. He is an entertaining story teller, and some of the tales in this series have their roots in stories he told his children when they were young. Maurie is a voracious reader, especially interested in World War II history, and loves to putter, thinking up new ways to make things better.
Nancy is the author of "Learning Later, Living Greater: The Secret for Making the Most of Your After-50 Years," published by Sentient Publications in Boulder, CO. She also directs a national network of 400 lifelong learning programs for older adults. In her spare time Nancy keeps the home fires burning, loves cozy mystery stories, and crochets baby blankets for local shelters.
"Checky's Magical Adventures" are a direct result of Maurie and Nancy's day-to-day dealings with their mischievous bed-bear, Checky, and all his friends.
