3.0 out of 5 stars Strong positives and strong negatives, April 23, 2008

This review is from: Introducing Contemporary Theologies: The What and the Who of Theology Today (Paperback)
First, the positives:

The book covers 15 top Christian theologians. In a quite readable form, the author gives a brief introduction to each of these theologians. Especially good are his overviews of Karl Rahner's transcendental theology and Elizabeth Johnson's feminist theology. Ormerod's style of writing is generally quite clear and shows his fascination with the subject.

The negatives:

Although the book is titled "Introducing Contemporary Theologies", only Christian theologies are covered. To a non-Christian, the book may seem quite biased, and at times bigoted. This is especially true where Ormerod speaks for himself.

Overall, if you are strongly Christian this is a great overview of some of the top Christian theologians. If you are on the margins of Christianity or non-Christian, this book may not be your cup of tea.
