This is one of my favorite albums of all time. The Rheostatics have a way of injecting emotion and fun into any subject. They're amazing storytellers as well as incredible musicians. Their's is just good, clean, enjoyable rock and paints the most wonderful pictures.

Novelty trumps art,

The Rheostatics are clever, versatile, and articulate---that much is granted. Throughout this CD, there are many good to excellent songs, but an overall tone that suggests novelty trumps art drives a wedge between listener and musician at times.
Hence, many songs, such as the wonderful Claire, radiate 5 stars but the oddities outnumber the stars in this collection. Still, any Rheostatics recording is worth more than a casual listen, and the rich, colorul artwork would be enticement enough were we talking about album-sized covers.

amazing follow up by a uniquely canadian band,

Probably the finest rock band Canada has every produced, provided you handle the style jumping which has become the rheos trademark. This album is the follow up to the undeniably superb "Whale Music", where the rheos push further their extremes, the pop songs are poppier, the wierd songs are wierder, probably a little too weird for most people's taste, but I personally love it. I must admit that at first this album took a little time to grow on me, but most good things take time. This album could do without a few tracks (the cheesy title track for one), but the more you listen the more you uncover, revealing it's hidden treasures to the attentive ear. If you like adventerous, intelligent, catchy music, and unashamed CANADIAN music, give this album a try.

Weird at times, but overall, an excellent buy,

I first heard about this band awhile ago, and didn't really pay attention too much. But then I heard them on a song they did with the Tragically Hip (Take Me In Your Hand, also on this cd) and I decided to buy this cd. What a great choice it was. The title song is great, some of the songs here are really weird, but as time rolls on, you will enjoy them as much as the band itself!
