5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for how things are going to look
Mr. Honeycutt makes logical progressions through different areas of how Windows 2000 Professional will change the way administrators do things. There are good things and some not so good about the way Microsoft has changed "NT" as we know it, but after reading through the book and experimenting with Windows 2000 Professional Beta, I was very impressed with...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not much beyond how things will look
When buying this book, I expected a much deeper insight on the new technology involved in this product. What I found, instead, is a list of wonderful new buttons and taskbars. Is there anything beyond this colorful new interface ? I am still wondering.

Mr. Honeycutt makes logical progressions through different areas of how Windows 2000 Professional will change the way administrators do things. There are good things and some not so good about the way Microsoft has changed "NT" as we know it, but after reading through the book and experimenting with Windows 2000 Professional Beta, I was very impressed with the material presented. It is not a training kit. This book is designed to give an overview of the basics behind the new format and the new changes to the program. Do not buy this book thinking it will help you become certified. That is not the author's intent. The intent with this book, and it was done extrememly well, is to provide the experieinced NT user with a heads-up type outlook and to give answers to questions that otherwise might remain unanswered until the final product ships. Great Book and I am also purchasing the book "Introducing Windows 2000 Server"

Excellent book for users who want to now the new features in Windows 2000 Professional. Very well written and easy to read. In two hours I was able to outline the new features and try them on the BETA version. The first two chapters give the reader a great introduction to the subject.
