great overview for the traveler,
This review is from: Introducing Tokyo (Paperback)
You can find all kinds of information on Tokyo in books, from sections full of text and no pictures in lengthy guidebooks to books devoted exclusively to Tokyo. However, in planning for my trip to Japan, I found it really hard to get my bearings with respect to the city. Finally, I sat down with Introducing Tokyo and the Tokyo City Atlas and by reading section by section and looking for the sections of Tokyo in the atlas, I was finally able to get a sense of what's what and what's where in the city.
The book is large format - maybe 12 by 9 inches, and perhaps 20 to 25% text and the rest pictures. It has six major sections and covers six major sections of Tokyo. It just gives and overview and photographs from each section. It's not intended as a guidebook, but it's a great place to start before poring through your guidebooks. The photos are good, and I enjoyed the writing style.
