Terrific overview of addiction,
By Julie Barnes, Ph.D., CASAC (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Introduction To Alcoholism Counseling: A Bio-Psycho-Social Approach (Hardcover)
This is the text that I recommend for my students, from psychiatrists to beginning addiction counselors. It is the most comprehensive yet readable text that I have come across to date. Every time I teach, I reread it and appreciate it more. While I recommend other texts to my students in addition to this, this is the one I find most helpful and which I reference again and again. Chapter 3- "The Somatic Illnesses Associated with Alcoholism" is worth the price of the whole book and startles even MD's. Dr. Levin understands addiction like no one else I know!
