Book Description

January 12, 2009 0521711096 978-0521711098 1
Bronchoscopy is one of the most commonly performed medical procedures and also defines the procedural practice of chest physicians and surgeons. In most training programs, however, there is little structured education and trainees learn by watching and doing. This book is intended as a roadmap for any physician looking to master or improve skills in this important area. It outlines what the authors, who are all experts in the field, think a standard approach to common procedures should be and covers everything from anatomy and equipment care to how to set up a bronchoscopy unit. Step- by-step descriptions and abundant illustrations provide the reader with detailed instructions for performing diagnostic procedures such as bronchial washing and lavage, lung biopsy, and transbronchial needle aspiration. The book also covers bronchoscopy in the ICU and lung transplant patients. Advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy and basic therapeutic techniques are reviewed in the final two chapters.

Book Description

Bronchoscopy is a frequently performed procedure, yet there is very little structured education, even for basic diagnostic interventions for the trainee. This book describes, in detail, how to perform various common bronchoscopic procedures and how to handle the equipment. All chapters are written by recognized experts in the field, who teach these skills regularly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Introductory book January 25, 2011
By Nishnit
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book as the tittle indicates is for anyone who begins a training career in Pulmonology. It clearly fills in a void where in the trainees have no formal instruction from a theoretical standpoint on Bronchoscopy. It will definitely lead to a change in perspective and behavior in handling a Bronchoscope in practice.
The language is easy flow and it is not intimidating in size.An enjoyable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book to read ONCE July 21, 2011

It includes all the information you need to review during your first few months of bronchoscopy. It's an excellent book to check out from the medical library, but not a text I would recommend buying.
