Getting started with a new DSLR,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Sometimes working with these newer technologies can be a bit daunting. That is the dilemma I faced when I up-graded from a good film camera to a DSLR.... a few similarities but a totally new ball game so to speak. Thru Amazon, I ordered the Blue Crane Digital DVD, Introduction to the Canon XSI, along with another. It is the "only way" to learn this stuff. It is totally interactive... you can watch a video portion, pause the DVD.... play with the camera to understand that portion of the lesson, then click play.I strongly recommend this product, it will cut the learning curve in half.

This review is from: Introduction to the Canon XSI/450D and XS/1000D (DVD)
This training video is really excellent. It is well organized and shows you how to do just about everything with the complex Canon XSi camera. It takes you through many situations and shows you how to set up the camera and take the best picture possible. If you're new to the Canon XSi, you definitely want this video to get you started.

This review is from: Introduction to the Canon XSI/450D and XS/1000D (DVD)
Blue Crane offers a great tutorial on the Canon Rebel Xs and Xsi. I bought this DVD before I had received my camera so I could get familiar with the functions, setup etc. The instructor does an excellent job covering all of the features but he really does not go very deep. This is good on one hand it is easy for the novice to understand and pickup key terms. For anyone who already has some background with these key terms i.e speed, exposure, aperture, focus etc. it really leaves you yearning for more information. The instructor also jumps around making it a little confusing the first few times you watch the DVD. I think this is a great DVD for the beginner dSLR user. If your looking for something with more depth look elsewhere. Then again if you are looking for more depth you are most likely using a different Canon model anyways. I rate this DVD a must have for Canon Rebel XSi beginners.
