Book Description

January 15, 1998
Charlena Seymour and Harris Nober have gathered a group of communication disorders experts to write a basic textbook that provides the undergraduate student with a comprehensive introduction to the field. While the book is intended as a text for communication disorders majors, it is also useful for non-majors who need background information to enhance their own disciplines.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Happy to see multi-cultural approach & extensive emphasis on hearing disorders and audiology, which are often missing in other texts; Need language disorders chapter for children & school age, Ch. 5 is not adequate. An anatomy/neuroanatomy chapter is a must; strong phonology, voice, fluency chapters, but as it is, I would not use the book because it's not diverse enough in terms of coverage of various disorders esp. child language. Great history overview. Concise theory section. Weak school-age/adolescent language would like more consistency between chapters in organizaiton and inclusion of incidence treatment. Cultural component is great. Need more illustrations.
