The sixth edition of this well thought of book retains its logical progression of topics, while introducing the latest technologies, concepts, and applications in the counselor's repertoire. As they have in previous editions, the authors present practical examples and discussions of all of the major facets of counseling in a wide variety of counselors' work settings. They include a thorough treatment of techniques of assessment, including an overview of standardized testing and discussion of subjective approaches to appraisal—observation, self-reporting, and others. This book introduces future counselors to the technology they will encounter on their first assignments and familiarizes them with the type of equipment and tools to expect. It also includes coverage on the vital topics of program development/management and legal/ethical issues. For professionals in the field of counseling.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

A comprehensive introduction to counseling services as provided through a wide variety of service delivery milieus, both school and non-school. Rather than an in-depth treatment of a few topics, this text offers a broad-based, general discussion, the goal of which is to provide an understanding of five major facets of counseling: 1) the historical perspective of counseling and current activities of counselors; 2) the role and function of counselors in a variety of settings; 3) techniques used by counselors; 4) the organization of counseling programs; and, 5) legal and ethical guidelines for prospective counselors. First page to last, material is presented in an appealing, informal style that makes it readable and enjoyable as well as informative. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Like seriously, there are like, tons of texts in this thing, and they are all exactly where they should be. I took a class that required this book, and everything worked out better than expected. I can't recommend the thing enough, especially if you are looking for text about counseling.

When I placed my order, I was fearful that it wouldn't arrive in a timely manner because I chose standard shipping. However, my book was on the steps in a matter of days. The book was in excellent condition, and I will continue to order from this site.
