I am a critical care instructor belonging to the Critical Care Consortium of Rhode Island, we have adapted this text as part of our Introductory Level Critical Care Program. The students love it! Content is clear and concise. Contributors include some of the best educators in critical care nursing today. I give it high marks.

I HAD BEEN WORKING AS A CRITICAL CARE NURSE FOR ABOUT FIVE YEARS WHEN I FELL UPON THIS BOOK. I USED IT TO STUDY FOR THE CCRN EXAM AND FOUND IT'S CLARITY REFRESHING. AS IT SAYS, IT IS AN INTRODUCTION TO CRITICAL CARE NURSING, IT REALLY DOES HELP CREATE A SOLID KNOWLEDGE FOUNDATION.

The textbook is excellent for an introduction into critical care. Each chapter gives an excellent review of normal anatomy and physiology.

Good text for those thinking about critical care nursing. Loses value over the long term as a reference book because it is almost too basic. Missing some important aspects of frequently occuring diagnoses seen in critical care ( illeus, small vs large bowel obstruction) etc.

I am currently in my CC nursing class & using this book. I have read 4 chapters & I really like it. We have other reading on the same topics in our Med/Surg book & I find this book much more easier to read. I feel like I comprehend the material much better out of this book as well. There are great resources online through evolve. I really like the open-book tests. It tests your knowledge & makes for a great study tool. I would recommend the book for to help study for a CC nursing class.

This book gives just enough information, just the need to know stuff and not the nice to know stuff. Its great for those of us who are not dying to be ICU nurses.

As a nursing assistant in ICU for over 4 years and as a nursing student done in march 2008, this book really explains ICU in easy to understand terms! it's great!

I bought this book for school. It is actually one of the best textbooks I have used, and I've used a lot. Clearly written and easy to understand, also in a nice orderly fashion. If your going into critical care this is also a great tool.
