Book Description

December 29, 1999
Appropriate for freshman through graduate-level courses teaching Multimedia Design Using Director 7. This unique guide for Macromedia Director combines a traditional print guide with an interactive training CD that provides coverage of Director 7. Lingo and Shockwave, and shows how to use them to develop a multimedia project that can be used on the Internet. The project developed in the lessons also delves deep into the new Hybrid scripting features of Director which allows Director to send and receive information from the Internet in much the same way as a browser.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

There are better guides for "just" Director and Lingo, but this is an interesting book because it focuses on using Director with Lingo to create hybrid CD-ROMs that can access the Internet for updated and additional information. Packaged with an interactive CD-ROM, the manual covers in detail how to retrieve text from the net, how to download files, and how to deliver a CD-ROM.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to learn Director, May 29, 2000

This is a well thought out, pedagogically sound textbook for learning Macromedia Director. The author first presents a completed example using many of the features of Director, including web access. He then takes you through the steps of building the example, exploring most of the main features of Director along the way. The accompanying CD has all the files you need to build the application. Mr. Neushotz has provided relevant screen shots at every step. There is reinforcment of techniques from one chapter to the next. There are excellent summaries at the end of each chapter. Lingo is integrated into the learning process. Overall the book is a great blend of tutorial and reference book. I plan on using it for my multimedia students.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good source for learning about e-commerce, June 17, 2001

I bought this book mainly for the CD that contained the behavior that facilitates the transfer of data via e-mail. To that end, I wasn't disappointed, and the book goes into detail about how to design a Director movie that can be used for e-commerce (this is the only book that I have found to do this). However, this isn't a book for beginners; some familiarity of Director is needed to fully grasp the content of this book.

Wanna learn Director & Lingo? Then look no further. This book will take you step-by-step thru the process of becoming a Director GOD! Between this book (and admitidly taking high level Director courses at NYC-based Motion Over Time) I am now a full-fledged Director Developer.

Hats off to Mr.Neuschotz, a long-time leader/teacher/programmer in the Director community and silicon-alleys resident Lingo expert.
