1.0 out of 5 stars Lots of repetition, typos, and hollow info
The volume contains lots of repetition of very elemental, common sense executive protection basics -- very little useful technical detail. Lots of stories that don't relate well to everyday executive protection challenges. For example: Lots of details given about motorcade techniques that will rarely get used unless you work for the USSS or DSS. -- but no detail given...

-- but no detail given about agent placement when working a close protection detail. And, way too many typos, punctuation, and grammar errors for a $64 book! Not a very deep book for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on executive protection, July 16, 2007
As the leading civilian authority on the U.S. Secret Service, I highly recommend this book from distinguished former agent Dale June. It is well written and very informative. Simply put, you cannot go wrong in purchasing this volume. I was a little disappointed with the 11/22/63 "whitewash", but that was to be expected, quite frankly (what is Mr. June going to say : "My colleagues screwed up in Dallas?"). Get this!

5.0 out of 5 stars "The serious practitioner's reference tool and benchmark"., April 9, 1999
Dale June's expertise and accurate insight into the field of executive and vip protection offers both the novice and experienced professional a "true standard of excellence" to be measured against. Mr.June's extensive career in law enforcement and the private security industry has afforded others a rare glimpse of the dedication, commitment, and professionalism one needs to undertake in the protective services arena. I have had the privilege and good fortune to work with Dale June on numerous assignments in the private sector from 1995 to the present. Most important, was his willingness to answer questions in a very thorough manner and discuss the application of protective principles in the field to enhance our overall effectiveness.I truly believe this speaks to the pertinent aspects of the book since Mr.June has been able to draw on personal anecdotes to further highlight protective protocol and application. I clearly believe anyone who is in the business of protecting principals or clients, domestically or internationally, can derive substantial benefit from this text{this applies to clients as well}. In net,"An Introduction To Executive Protection" by Dale June is an extremely well-written,thought- ful book which should be considered a primary source of information for all interested parties.

5.0 out of 5 stars The consumate text for Executive Protection, December 13, 2000
By
S. Christian (California, USA) - See all my reviews
Dale June really hits the nail on the head with this comprehensive text on EP(Executive Protection). As one of the few women in the profession, I have seen that little is often addressed in 'so called EP books' as to the unique situations that we encounter.

June includes material that is essential to the neophyte and experienced professional alike. His text is fast becoming a required reading, and is endorsed by the Director of Training and Professional Certification of the IAPPS (International Association for Professional Protection Specialists) as a core text for those entering the profession.

Whether you are looking at the profession from the perspective of just starting, or revisiting the basics to stay on top of your game. This book is a MUST read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent! Deserves 10 out of 10 !, January 26, 2001

As a professional who has been in the industry for a long time I have read numerous publications on the subject of Executive Protection but have not come accross material such as this.

I must say that Mr. June goes a step further with this book than most authors so far. He tells it as it is. The book not only covers the basics but also offers very useful information on many points to both begginers and seasonal professionals like myself. Although the book is aimed at the protection specialists in the USA some of the principles still apply world wide. I have thouroghly enjoyed it and I would definately recommend the book to anyone either interested or involved in the industry!

5.0 out of 5 stars A++ A must read for everyone in the industry!!!, July 3, 1999
By A Customer
Introduction to Executive Protection will lead the way. It should be required reading for all those providing Personal protection whether in the Private, Corporate or Government sector. Mr. June does a great job of giving a overall picture of what is really required, occurs and should be addressed. It should be used as a reference book by either students, young & inexperienced agents, as well as a refresher for the experienced and seasoned security specialist.

I have had the honor of having Dale June as a friend and co-worker for 20 years, and can testify to his book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Introduction to Executive Protection Second Edition, January 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Introduction to Executive Protection: Second Edition (Hardcover)
This book by Dale June has been written on a college style of format. I have found that approach to be much welcomed as many other books on the same subject are far from educational. From the first few paragraphs, I knew that my investment in this book was a sound one.

I have been involved in the security field for 10 plus years, and have found Mr. Junes book to be well beyond the scope of my expectations. I cant say enough about this logical, methodical format that keeps even an experienced security provider like myself pondering every page. With that, I mean that his perspective and experience base are very thought provoking and incredibly relevant to the subject matter.

In short, if you want to experience a thorough well thought out education into the executive protection field, here it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book ON E.P., June 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Introduction to Executive Protection: Second Edition (Hardcover)
This book is a great read, as an introductory book it provides lots of stories and examples to demonstrate the author's point. Before I decided to have a career in executive protection, I read this book and found it very insightful which in turn ignited my passion for the executive protection field. As one of Mr. June's students, I can say the book is a great reference for someone who is starting in the field as well as the seasoned E.P. agent.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for protection specialists, October 19, 2006
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is the quintessential guide for the executive and personal protection professional. Newcomers to the field as well as veterans will find the book very readable and thorough in its coverage of all aspects of executive and personal protection. While providing a solid overview of the basics of the profession, the book also covers some advanced topics such as motorcade tactics, advances, and working the principal in different scenarios. The only drawback to this text is that it is over-priced. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it for anyone considering entering the field of personal protection or already working in it.
