Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Introductory Financial Accounting, 9e provides a unique and perfect blend of robust financial statement analysis with early statement of cash flows coverage. It is directed at those who will analyze real financial statements, and make business decisions based upon that analysis. Real statements are used throughout (Starbucks). Statement of Cash Flows comes earlier in this book than most. Material is focused on analysis of financial statements — ratios introduced early and often, special “Portfolio” section provides a “road map” to financial statement analysis, and special section in end-of-chapter problems focuses on analyzing financial statements (using Starbucks financial statements). Features strong coverage of statement of cash flows (Ch 5) --an essential financial statement, one of growing importance, and should be regarded as a basic statement. For financial accountants.

From the Publisher

This best-selling text offers a relevant, real-world approach to financial accounting theory, terminology, and procedures. Students learn how to comprehend a typical corporate annual report and to use accounting as a tool in understanding how economic events affect business. An exceptionally strong pedagogy and flexible structure provide instructors with great latitude in choosing various combinations of breadth and depth, theory and procedures, simplicity and complexity. Simple concepts are introduced early and revisited at more sophisticated levels as students gain sophistication and understanding, and concepts are made concrete at every step with actual, current company illustrations. An extensive selection of supplements help students move beyond the text for hands-on experience with the real world of financial accounting. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent text to ease you into accounting, November 7, 1998
By "vmvlkc" (Houston, Texas) - See all my reviews
Accounting is the type of subject that can ramp up quickly in difficulty, and this text plots a nearly perfect learning curve in getting the reader well-grounded in the fundamentals. I purchased this text as a requirement for a course, but it is a definite keeper and I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone interested in learning about accounting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Financial accounting, August 30, 1998
By A Customer
As a first year accounting student this text provided to be very useful in all aspects of my course. Although textbooks are required so this review won't move anyone to buy it, students can be assured this text is not a wasted purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good resource, October 6, 2005
I'm CEO of a medium size business and wanted a resource to teach me accounting. This is a great book, with plenty of assignments which fully reinforce the lessons. The only disappointment is that there are no solutions and the publisher only gives them to you if you are a registered teacher.
