3.0 out of 5 stars Learn what "buttoms" to push?, January 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Introduction to Financial Math using the HP-12C calculator (Paperback)
The only book dedicated to a specific HP-12C calculator that I have seen which in fact gives the reader a quality and professional presentations of "what buttons" to push when performing various financial calculations is the Professional Real Estate Problem Solving books by John Tirone. Presentation of the keystrokes in the Toy book is perfunctory, at best.
Professor Toy may have much math in financial calculations under his belt, but he can learn much from how to present the topic by reading Professor Tirone's book on the HP 12C and HP-17BII in real estate calculations.
Maybe both authors should get together on a book, but that may not be possible given the distances involved.
Buy the Toy book if you are into some of the math of finance; buy Dr. fabozzi's books as well, and for the best presentation in real estate get Mr. Tirone's books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Using the HP12C, March 20, 2006

This review is from: Introduction to Financial Math using the HP-12C calculator (Paperback)
If you're new to the HP12C or a student, this book is really helpful - has a tutorial style that let's you work the problem and then see the answer. I found it got me past some hurdles and on my way. Also, it includes some basics on financial problem solving that gets the user oriented and fills in some gaps. I'd recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!, February 14, 2011
This review is from: Introduction to Financial Math using the HP-12C calculator (Paperback)
I must say that Dr. Toy has the ability to make an often difficult subject somewhat straightforward. The book is written in terms of examples and short quizzes to reinforce one's learning as they go. Also, it provides an appendix that details the HP-12C calculator in terms of keystrokes. Worth every penny!
