A Great Little Introduction,

This review is from: An Introduction to Invertebrate Fossils of New York (Paperback)
These concisely written pages are packed with information. Biological terms are defined at their point of first use; a few common names are also included. To identify your fossils look at the line drawings. Then a strata cross-section is used to help you identify when the little animal "bit the mud." A child will be disappointed by no colored pictures, etc; but he/she can learn from this source. If trilobites are your interest your next book could be the impressive, thorough Trilobites of New York: An Illustrated Guide (Comstock books) by Thomas E. Whiteley.

This review is from: An Introduction to Invertebrate Fossils of New York (Paperback)
This book shows the most common fossils of new york and goes into some detail about the time period in which the animals lived. I really needed something more comprehensive, but this guide is good for a small range of common fossils.
