4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good introduction for a total beginner, February 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Introduction to Java Programming Core Vision (5th Edition) (Paperback)
I think this is probably fine for someone that is just starting out with Java, and has no experience with something like C++. It has a lot of examples. Unfortunately, I've been learning on my own for a month, and am an experienced C++ programmer, and I found it to be cumbersome to browse due to all the various samples, illustrations, etc. Concepts are spread out over several pages, so I find I need to spend too much time looking for the sample or figure (numbered independently) that the text is referencing.

Other than that, the explanations seem pretty clear and detailed, which is probably a good thing for a beginner.

Also, the title on Amazon is incorrect... it's "Version", not "Vision".
