This is a good first solo CD for Pleasure P, I have always enjoyed listen to his music, i was expecting some more tracks on here he did release songs like make you say, luckiest man, that step song, say yes but other than that this CD is that good lovin music for the summer.

Pleasure P has an absolutely beautiful, distinctive tenor voice. Unfortunately for the former Pretty Ricky vocalist, Pretty Ricky, with its two gold albums probably wasn't enough to propel Pleasure P to be an R&B superstar. THE INTRODUCTION OF MARCUS COOPER is a fine and mature effort, but its singer suffers from lacking superstar buzz, despite his prodigious talents. Unlike his R&B competition Jeremih, Pleasure P doesn't have top ten pop hit ("Birthday Sex" for Jeremih), as his two singles ("Boyfriend #2" and "Did You Wrong", both excellent in my eyes)didn't set the charts on fire. But commercial savvy aside, P's debut is solid R&B, strapped with a parental advisory sticker that is another fine, if a non-revolutionary debut. I personally prefer Pleasure to Jeremih vocally as well as for a majority of the material on his debut.

"I'm A Beast" featuring southern rapper Yung Joc is a fine opener, easily and convincingly showcasing P's pipes. The timbre of P's voice is very desirable and has a clear quality to it. "Boyfriend #2", second single from THE INTRODUCTION OF MARCUS COOPER is unique in a world of R&B conformity - well to an extent. The production is solid and Pleasure P sounds like an energized, youthful R. Kelly on this track. "Tender Roni (Handcuffin')" is certainly different than many R&B tracks in name - I mean 'tender roni' in referencing a lady? It turns out to be as solid as anything else and exploits the sweetness of Pleasure's upper register ala falsetto.

"Under" is a lovely ballad, as good as anything else bowing on the album as of yet. "Let Me" features more fantastic production work (think The-Dream/Tricky on Usher's "Trading Places" from HERE I STAND) and more well performed vocals by "Marcus". "Gotta Have You" lays well too, both compositionally and vocally speaking. It is "Did You Wrong", my personal favorite, that is the showstopper of THE INTRODUCTION OF MARCUS COOPER. Vocally, P sounds on top of his game, the ballad is well written, and the production deserves a grade of an A.

"Your Love" proves to be a well written, soulful R&B number. "Fire Lovin'" is solid, even when you feel like THE INTRODUCTION OF MARCUS COOPER becomes a bit "samey" in quality. "Birthday Suit" is good (particularly as far as the production is concerned), though not the "cream of the crop" of THE INTRODUCTION OF MARCUS COOPER. Even with that said, Pleasure P sounds like some of the vocalists of the new-jack swing era of R&B (Luther Vandross, Freddie Jackson, and especially Keith Sweat). "Illusion" is OK, but by this point, Pleasure P has done more than enough to prove he is here to play the R&B game. "Dream in the Air" is a fantastic closer in a debut that shows great potential, if only promoted and honed more.

Essentially, Pleasure P has released another solid R&B debut. The main problem is promotion, economy, and maybe even material. The material is great here, but the question that must be asked in this time of conformity within the R&B circle is, are you doing enough to separate yourself from the crowd? While P has made some solid attempts at that, particularly gravitating to a slightly more traditional contemporary R&B with the repetitiveness (Jeremih is uses a lot of repetition), I don't know that it is enough to make him an R&B star, which is unfortunate. Critically speaking, he easily garners 4 stars from me.
