5.0 out of 5 stars Marty Friedman - 'Introduction' (Shrapnel), March 1, 2005
This review is from: Introduction (Audio CD)
You learn something new every day.Well, you CAN anyway.Example, until here recently,I never knew that one-time Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman had solo material out.Heard this CD is much like his previous effort 'Scenes'.All I can say is great metal instrumental work here.Tracks I dug the most were "Escapism","Be" and "Loneliness".I put Friedman right UP there along with other outstanding guitar virtuosos like Vinnie Moore,Greg Howe,Joe Satriani and Tony MacAlpine.A great find.

5.0 out of 5 stars a true dichotomy........., December 14, 1999
This review is from: Introduction (Audio CD)
I gave this to a friend of mine for x-mas and she calls back the next day raving about how good it was and I told her it was Megadeth's lead player and I got the standard reply of incredulity. I will combine two reviews into one and say that Introduction and Scenes are some of the most beautiful music produced and you should try it out because its incredible music that is highly expressive and there is not one vocal track on either album. I like to listen to them back to back because it sounds like they fit together. I'm also a big fan of jewel and sarah mclachlan and as far as weepy tear-jerking music goes they don't hold a candle to Marty. His music is slow, emotional, dreamy and yet dynamic. If you're looking for shredding this is the last place on earth you'll find it; it doesn't exist on either of these two albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking!, November 13, 2004

Wow! Marty Friedman is by far and away one of the greatest purveyors of instrumental albums of our time. I am a straight up headbanging fool when it comes to my tastes in music, and the classical piano interludes, woodwind instruments, symphony, and tympany drums just BLEW ME AWAY. This is beautiful music for all to appreciate. I now, finally, have everything Marty has put out because of this album. All are fantastic in their own right, but as a pure instrumental album, this mixes the electric lead breaks (my GOD this man can play), with the acoustic interludes and classical instruments. Each cut tells a story. Put on your headphones, lay back and ENJOY!
