"Introduction to Mechatronics and Measurement Systems" provides comprehensive and accessible coverage of the evolving field of mechatronics for mechanical, electrical and aerospace engineering majors. The authors present a concise review of electrical circuits, solid-state devices, digital circuits, and motors - all of which are fundamental to understanding mechatronic systems. Mechatronics design considerations are presented throughout the text, and in "Design Example" features. The text's numerous illustrations, examples, class discussion items, and chapter questions and exercises provide an opportunity to understand and apply mechatronics concepts to actual problems encountered in engineering practice. This text has been tested over several years to ensure accuracy. A text web site is available and contains numerous supplemental resources.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Introductory Book, May 5, 2003
By A Customer
This book is perfect for a mechanical engineer with very little background or experience with electronics.

The chapter on microcontroller programming and interfacing is also a good introduction, and it presents all of the important aspects of this important area.

I don't recommend the book for electrical engineers or others with lots of electronics and microcontroller experience.

although this book is over 10 years old and has had many new editions it is still a great book that is still relevant to my graduate engineering course.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok book for beginners, September 19, 2002
By
Jorge (Puerto Rico) - See all my reviews
This is an Ok book for mechanical engineers interested in learning the basics of mechatronics. The book provides a very basic introduction of electronic devices and gives the reader a flavor of the field of mechatronics. However, if you are a seasoned engineer with a basic understanding of electrical engineering, you will need something else.

In my opinion, this book has been written at a level that is appropriate for junior engineering students and it is not suitable for a practicing engineer with some real-world experience.
