Great Introductory Book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Introduction to Mechatronics & Measurement Systems (Hardcover)
This book is perfect for a mechanical engineer with very little background or experience with electronics. The chapter on microcontroller programming and interfacing is also a good introduction, and it presents all of the important aspects of this important area. I don't recommend the book for electrical engineers or others with lots of electronics and microcontroller experience.

although this book is over 10 years old and has had many new editions it is still a great book that is still relevant to my graduate engineering course.

Ok book for beginners,
By Jorge (Puerto Rico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Introduction to Mechatronics & Measurement Systems (Hardcover)
This is an Ok book for mechanical engineers interested in learning the basics of mechatronics. The book provides a very basic introduction of electronic devices and gives the reader a flavor of the field of mechatronics. However, if you are a seasoned engineer with a basic understanding of electrical engineering, you will need something else. In my opinion, this book has been written at a level that is appropriate for junior engineering students and it is not suitable for a practicing engineer with some real-world experience.

Sketchy Electronics Introduction,
By DaveHwriter "DaveHwriter" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Introduction to Mechatronics & Measurement Systems (Hardcover)
Mine is the 2002 edition and I did not like the electronics introduction section. Seemed to gloss over way too much. Maybe the later editions have improved. I think some other books titled "electromechanics" have served my purposes better.

The book is simple to read, which is what I like most about it. It gives an overall view of the components of a mechatronic system. However, the reader would probably need another text to go into actual design and implementation. For starters, this text is good, especially for students.

Too General,
By A Customer
This review is from: Introduction to Mechatronics & Measurement Systems (Hardcover)
For a seasoned mechanical engineer, this book is next to useless. Most of the book consists of explaining fundamental concepts that should have already been acquired in mechanics and electrical circuits classes (or books). Although the sections covering the fundamentals such as circuit components, signal processing, etc. are well written, very little attempt is made at "tying it all together". The "real world" case studies lack any detail or insight that help in actually getting the job done. I want to know how I can make *this* bag of circuit components control *that* gear motor according to *this* equation, etc. Final Points:

introduction to mechatronics,

This review is from: Introduction to Mechatronics & Measurement Systems (Hardcover)
This book is exactly as the title describes and introduction to mechatronics. The content is not detailed enough even for a undergraduate engineer. It,s a book fun to have with the real stuff. Nothing as modelling ans simpification technieuqs is given. The emphesis is to much on theory and not practical designing. To much digital processing.
