This review is from: An Introduction to Metamorphic Petrology (Longman Earth Science Series) (Textbook Binding)
As an introduction to metamorphic petrology, start by reading the examples which have a map to the exemplified site. Also, read the chapter summaries and conclusions. Such recommendations are for a beginner who may have difficulty relating to phase diagrams and rather concise text. The reader will recognize that the many examples illustrate the effects of continental drift. So the reader will be studying evidence used to hypothesize that specific continents had collided. Study methods and a physicist's or chemist's analysis will be found in Physics and Chemistry of Earth Materials (Cambridge Topics in Mineral Physics and Chemistry)by Alexandra Navrotsky.
