5.0 out of 5 stars Intro to the Nikon D90
VERY basic but goes through all the buttons of basic controls in an easy format to understand. Very helpful. Doesn't replace your manual but is informative enough.

3.0 out of 5 stars informative but not tutorial
I was expecting a full fledged tutorial, so I was somewhat disappointed. The DVD is informative and well made. I conceived it as a sales pitch for something I already owned. A great advertisement for the Nikon D90 with most of the camera's operational functions explained in a bit more detail than the accompanying user's manual.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Introduction to D90 and Photography, May 16, 2009

I had an opportunity 1-year ago to watch the Blue Crane DVD about Nikon's D80 and that experience prompted me to lease the D90 introduction. For $1.99 it was worth the review of features and photo tips as well as learn about the new features of the D90. The Blue Crane videos about Nikon cameras are clear and concise. All details are understandable and the host also provides a very good description of solid photography techniques. I am only disappointed that I can only lease the first video from Amazon on Demand, as Blue Crane also offers an advanced DVD for the D90 that goes into greater detail of the features not covered in DVD 1.

1.0 out of 5 stars Instruction DVD not well designed, May 24, 2009

I just bought the D90 camera so was happy to find this DVD and got it and the next in the series of teaching one to use the Nikon D90. I was very disappointed in this product. It's like they know cameras and photography but don't have clue how to teach it. Seems like they said, "Lets talk as fast as we can and let's make it as confusing and as difficult to follow as we can." There was no step by step progression from one subject to the next. There was no repetition. If I taught my language classes like this the students would walk out of the class. Poorly designed by intelligent people who don't know how to teach. So I'm returning the DVD

The second DVD is really for the advanced user with much technical talk about color and formating that only a professional would benefit from and it has the same problem of lack of progression and too much speed. Between segments there is guitar music that's very annoying. I doubt they presented these DVDs to a focus group before putting it on the market. It would never pass.

I got everything and more from this wonderful instructional video. This was did go over "basic" controls and functions of the camera and I just bought my D90 two weeks ago and it is my first DSLR camera and this was exactly what I was needing to crank up my absolute desire to be a better photographer and to one day make my hobby a side job.

I would definitely recommend this video to anyone who is wanting to increase their knowledge of their D90.

This is an excellent DVD designed specifically for the Nikon D90 Camera. Pause the DVD and try out the topics as they are given. This DVD as well as the advanced Digital Crane DVD will give you a fast understanding of the cameras features and settings. I would reccomend this DVD to anyone who has this camera.

3.0 out of 5 stars Introduction to the Nikon D90 Vol. 1 : Basic Controls, June 13, 2009
This review is from: Introduction to the Nikon D90, Vol. 1: Basic Controls (Electronics)
A handy guide but a bit over acted for my tastes. I like these to be a little more conversational rather than totally scripted and read like a long advertisement. But the information os great so go get it!

4.0 out of 5 stars DVD more useful than Bound Book, August 13, 2011

Given the opportunity to buy either the DVD or the book I would opt for the DVD. Both in the long run would be desireable. Simply easier to learn from the DVD, expecially the first time through. Failings include a Table of Contents that could be more extensive as well as a pause, start function that doesn't seem to operate all the time. I created a table of contents showing each 'Titled' area with the specific start time in minutes and seconds for the title. That way I can go back at any time to review specific areas that I need help with while becoming really familiar with the camera. I purchased both items through Amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Blue Crane Digital DVD - Intro to Nikon D90 Vol. 1: Basic Controls, October 20, 2010
This video was cheaply made. It's in black and white and skips a lot. I would not recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for D90 owners, July 24, 2010
By

This review is from: Introduction to the Nikon D90, Vol. 1: Basic Controls (Electronics)
As a semi-professional photographer who has used DSLR point-and-shoot cameras since they first hit the market, I recently upgraded to the Nikon D90. While the camera can be used on auto mode right out of the box, a review of the D90 manual provides and overwhelming array of features that can boggle the mind of even experienced photographers. Though not an in-depth tutorial, this well-produced video provides a clear and simple overview of the camera's most important and useful features. Though it's fast paced, it provides clear explanations that cut through the fog of massive doses of information and technical data, significantly reducing the learning curve. At the outset, the video recommends pausing and practicing with the camera as you learn to use the features. Mastering each step will assure that any photographer can use this highly complex instrument to get great shots. The video was included with my camera package and I think it's a must for any new D90 0wner.
