This review is from: Introduction to Operating Systems: Comprehensive Course (Paperback)
Even though Windows dominates the operating systems market, there are others on the market that the typical user should know how to use. Not necessarily be proficient in all aspects, but just be able to perform the fundamental tasks. Furthermore, there are several different versions of Windows that have significant differences between them. This book is a solid introduction to the operating systems:
*) DOS *) Mac OS X *) Windows XP *) Windows 2000 Professional *) Windows NT Workstation *) Novell Client *) Mac OS X Server *) Windows XP Server *) Windows 2000 Server *) Windows NT Server *) Novell Netware 6 *) Red Hat Linux 8.0 The emphasis is on practicality; all of the functionality demonstrated is in the area of what the basic user and system administrator would do. This is an excellent textbook for an overview course in operating systems.
