Even though Windows dominates the operating systems market, there are others on the market that the typical user should know how to use. Not necessarily be proficient in all aspects, but just be able to perform the fundamental tasks. Furthermore, there are several different versions of Windows that have significant differences between them. This book is a solid introduction to the operating systems:
