Book Description

0192631845 978-0192631848 June 7, 2001 2
Orthodontics is concerned with facial growth and the development of the dentition and occlusion. A solid understanding of orthodontics is an essential prerequisite to treatment planning in children and invaluable in the management of adult dentition. As a result of the speed at which clinical practice changes, a new edition of which clinical practice changes, a new edition of An Introduction to Orthodontics will prove invaluable. The Second Edition of this popular textbook continues to provide a first-rate introduction to current thinking and the practice of orthodontics. The material has been thoroughly revised and updated covering all aspects of orthodontics from management of the mixed dentition to adult and surgical orthodontics. This is an extremely readable and user-friendly book for both undergraduate dentistry students and the interested general dental practitioner alike. The strength of the book lies in its logical and concise format and is complemented by over 350 full-color photographs.

Editorial Reviews

Review

from reviews of the First Edition:

"In addition to its obvious role in the teaching of undergraduates...junior postgraduates could learn much from its structured handling of information, to assist them in the consolidation of the vast amounts of knowledge they are required to attain."--American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

"The many color photographs are of excellent quality, as are the many illustrations accompanying the text. The book, in addition to being a particularly good introductory text for students at the predoctoral level, could well be of interest to general practitioners of dentistry as a readily accessible information source."--American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

5.0 out of 5 stars An introduction to Orthodontics, June 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Not so many words at the Preface. However, I'm glad that I have it. Mine is the third edition. As the writer mentions, time doesn't mean anything. It is the passsion. I note it down,"At times it does feel as if the first is true, but I presently subscribe to the idea that given the rapid pace of change in any clinical subject that in order to reflect current practice regular revisions of a text are a fact of life". Love never fails. That's keep us as a dentist and flight for it. The book tells fully explanation to orthodontics with easily understanding words. So, it is not just good to a neophyte. It is also good for a dentist that english is not her/his mother language.
